SCADA Systems Analyst

Employment Type: Contract to Hire

Location: Tampa, FL 33607 (Onsite 4 days/week, Remote 1 day/week)

Shift: 8 Hr. X 5 Days

As a SCADA Systems Analyst, you'll play a key role in supporting and enhancing enterprise SCADA and Operational Technology (OT) systems that monitor and control the natural gas distribution network. This position combines production support, system enhancements, vendor collaboration, and project work to ensure the reliability and availability of mission-critical systems.

 

What You'll Do

  • Support, maintain, troubleshoot, and enhance enterprise SCADA and Operational Technology (OT) applications.
  • Monitor system performance and resolve production issues, including communication failures between SCADA servers, RTUs, PLCs, and field devices.
  • Participate in all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including requirements gathering, design, development, testing, implementation, and ongoing support.
  • Coordinate monthly software releases, system upgrades, patches, and maintenance activities.
  • Design and develop system integrations between SCADA platforms and enterprise applications.
  • Partner closely with Operations, Engineering, IT teams, vendors, and business stakeholders to deliver system enhancements and resolve production issues.
  • Support ongoing SCADA modernization and expansion initiatives across multiple departments.
  • Develop and review technical design documentation, implementation plans, and system documentation.
  • Create SQL queries to troubleshoot issues, validate data, and support reporting needs.
  • Participate in vendor evaluations, software implementations, and system integrations.
  • Mentor junior team members and promote technical best practices.
  • Participate in a rotating on-call schedule supporting mission-critical applications when necessary.

 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, Mathematics, or a related technical discipline.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience supporting enterprise SCADA, Industrial Control Systems (ICS), or Operational Technology (OT) environments.
  • Experience supporting SCADA systems in utility, energy, manufacturing, pipeline, water/wastewater, or other industrial environments.
  • Strong understanding of industrial control systems, including:
    • SCADA platforms
    • Remote Terminal Units (RTUs)
    • PLC programming concepts
    • Human Machine Interfaces (HMIs)
    • Industrial communication protocols such as Modbus (DNP3 is a plus)
  • Working knowledge of industrial networking, including TCP/IP communications and network troubleshooting.
  • Strong SQL skills with experience querying Microsoft SQL Server databases using SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS).
  • Experience designing and supporting system integrations.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities in production environments.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple initiatives while supporting business-critical systems.
  • Strong communication skills with experience working directly with business partners, vendors, and technical teams.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting AVEVA Enterprise SCADA (formerly OASyS) or similar enterprise SCADA platforms.
  • Experience within the natural gas utility industry strongly preferred.
  • Experience supporting meter measurement, distribution management, or other utility operational systems.
  • Knowledge of SCADA redundancy, failover, and high-availability architectures.
  • Experience implementing or supporting SCADA cybersecurity standards (ISA 99 / IEC 62443, TSA compliance).
  • Experience with SAP Billing, Meter Data Management, or Mobile Field Solutions.
  • Experience with reporting tools such as Microsoft SSRS, Crystal Reports, or Power BI.
  • Experience using PowerShell, Python, or Microsoft Power Apps for automation and reporting.

Working Environment

  • Hybrid schedule (4 days onsite / 1 day remote)
  • Occasional travel to operating locations may be required.
  • Participation in maintenance windows and after-hours support for mission-critical systems as needed.

 

Incident Response Assignment

Our community relies on our client to respond swiftly and effectively to incidents including severe weather events, gas leaks, equipment failures, environmental hazards, and other emergencies that impact public safety or service continuity.

As part of this role, you will be assigned an Incident Response Assignment and may participate in emergency response activities, training exercises, and simulated incident drills to help ensure operational readiness.
