Business Execution Consultant IV - Senior Payments Business Analyst, ISO 20022 / SWIFT
Location: On-site, Charlotte Uptown
Contract: Approximately 4-month W2 contract, 40 hours/week
Start Date: 7/23/2026
Calculated Hire is partnering with a large financial services client to support an immediate need for an experienced Payments Business Analyst with strong ISO 20022, SWIFT, and core payments expertise. This role will support high-priority payments initiatives within a complex banking environment and requires someone who can confidently speak to ISO/payment messaging concepts in a technical interview.
Job Description
This role is focused on core payments, SWIFT/ISO 20022 messaging, payment system testing, and business analysis execution. The consultant will work closely with business, operations, technology, and testing teams to understand payment workflows, document requirements, support testing, validate changes, and help move payment system enhancements through implementation.
The ideal candidate has direct experience with SWIFT / ISO 20022, MT/MX standards, core payments applications, and upcoming ISO-related changes, including 2026 updates around postal address, MT/MX standards, and new message mandates.
This is a hands-on Business Analyst role with a strong testing component. Candidates should be comfortable working in the details, learning complex payment applications quickly, and supporting E2E, regression, and UAT testing.
Responsibilities
• Gather, analyze, and document business and functional requirements for core payments and ISO 20022-related initiatives
• Partner with operations, business, technology, and QA teams to understand payment workflows, system impacts, and testing needs
• Translate business requirements into user stories, acceptance criteria, process flows, and testable deliverables
• Support SWIFT / ISO 20022 payment messaging initiatives, including MT/MX standards, message validation, and payment workflow impacts
• Support analysis and testing tied to 2026 ISO changes, including postal address updates, MT/MX standards, and new message mandates
• Participate in end-to-end testing, regression testing, UAT, defect tracking, validation, and business sign-off
• Support test scenario and test script creation for payment workflows and ISO/payment messaging changes
• Help identify and document defects, gaps, and process impacts across payment applications
• Work through complex payment system questions and partner with stakeholders to drive resolution
• Support production readiness, implementation validation, and post-release follow-up as needed
Required Skills
• Strong Business Analyst experience within banking, financial services, or payments
• Hands-on experience with SWIFT / ISO 20022 and core payments
• Understanding of MT/MX standards and payment message flows
• Knowledge of 2026 ISO changes, including postal address updates, MT/MX standards, and new message mandates
• Experience supporting core payments systems or complex payment applications
• Strong testing background, including E2E testing, regression testing, UAT, defect tracking, and business validation
• Ability to quickly understand complex payment systems, workflows, and application impacts
• Experience writing requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, test scenarios, and process documentation
• Strong communication skills with the ability to partner across business, operations, technology, and QA teams
Required Qualifications
• 4+ years of Business Analyst experience within payments, banking, or financial services
• Experience with SWIFT, ISO 20022, MT/MX, or payment messaging standards
• Experience supporting testing and validation for payment systems or banking applications
• Ability to work on-site in Charlotte Uptown
• Comfortable participating in a technical interview focused on ISO, SWIFT, payment messaging, testing, and core payments experience
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with MT103, MT202, MT202 COV, MT300, MT900/910, MT940/942, pacs, pain, camt, or related ISO 20022 message formats
• Experience with payment modernization, MT-to-MX migration, or ISO 20022 implementation projects
• Experience with wires, ACH, Fedwire, CHIPS, RTP, FedNow, cross-border payments, or high-value payments
• Experience with payment validation, payment exceptions, settlement, reconciliation, or operational payment workflows
• Experience with JIRA, Confluence, HP ALM, or similar Agile/testing tools
• Exposure to FX payment flows or trade lifecycle workflows
Additional Information
This team is looking for someone who can ramp quickly and confidently speak to SWIFT / ISO 20022 and core payments experience. The interview process is expected to be technical and will focus on ISO knowledge, payment messaging, 2026 ISO changes, testing experience, and ability to understand complex payment systems.
