Clinical Equipment Planning Project Manager
St. Louis, MO (traveling to multiple hospitals)
On-Site Role
Compensation Range: $33.65 - $43.27 per hour
6-month contract to hire
8am-5pm, Monday–Friday
ABOUT THE ROLE
Join one of our partner health system team, one of the largest nonprofit health systems in the United States, headquartered in St. Louis, Missouri, with a network of 28 hospitals and approximately 30,000 employees across Missouri and Illinois. As a Clinical Equipment Planning Project Manager, you will oversee the full lifecycle of medical equipment planning projects within healthcare construction and renovation environments. This role requires technical expertise in medical equipment, strong project management and financial skills, and the ability to collaborate across clinical, design, and construction teams. You will be responsible for managing equipment planning deliverables, coordinating with stakeholders, and ensuring projects are completed efficiently, on time, and within budget. This is a 6-month contract to hire position based in St. Louis, MO, with travel to multiple hospitals.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Manage the full lifecycle of medical equipment planning projects within healthcare construction and renovation environments
- Read, interpret, and communicate deficiencies in architectural and MEP (mechanical, electrical, plumbing) drawings accurately and in a timely manner
- Conduct walk-throughs of active construction sites to identify equipment rough-ins and field conditions
- Collaborate with CADD drafters to create, review, and mark up equipment drawings
- Develop, maintain, and review Project Equipment Lists (PEL) from scratch, gathering equipment specifications and cut sheets for all items
- Meet with client stakeholders to review and update PELs, incorporating modifications as needed
- Request and obtain approval on shop drawings for equipment included on the PEL
- Evaluate existing equipment for reuse feasibility and conduct physical inventories, capturing all specifications required by the design team
- Solicit, negotiate, and review vendor quotes for equipment procurement
- Coordinate delivery, installation, and vendor training activities throughout the project duration
- Track and manage equipment deliveries, installations, and training schedules within project timelines
- Monitor and report financial status of projects using MPR Financials or equivalent tools, identifying and recommending cost savings opportunities
- Create and manage project schedules for CAM-run projects, ensuring alignment with construction timelines
- Contribute to clinical workflow discussions to support equipment planning decisions and engage stakeholders
- Maintain all project data in a well-organized, accessible format, including PELs, cut sheets, quotes, shop drawings, and purchase orders
- Train others on spreadsheet use and data management best practices in Microsoft Excel
- Work independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively as part of a cross-functional team
- Be recognized as a credible contributor by customers, peers, and management
WHAT YOU BRING
- Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent experience in healthcare facilities, medical equipment planning, or clinical operations
- Minimum 2 years of experience in medical equipment planning within healthcare or clinical environments
- Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience with Microsoft Excel, including building, managing, and teaching complex spreadsheets
- Familiarity with medical equipment nomenclature and clinical terminology
- Experience successfully completing small-to-mid-scale equipment planning projects from initiation through closeout
- Ability to read, interpret, and communicate deficiencies in architectural and MEP drawings
- Experience conducting walk-throughs of active construction sites and identifying equipment rough-ins and related field conditions
- Proficiency working with CADD drafters to create, review, and mark up equipment drawings
- Ability to create and manage Project Equipment Lists (PEL) and gather equipment specifications and cut sheets
- Experience meeting with stakeholders to review and update PELs, and obtaining approval on shop drawings
- Ability to evaluate existing equipment for reuse feasibility and conduct physical inventories
- Experience soliciting, negotiating, and reviewing vendor quotes for equipment procurement
- Ability to coordinate delivery, installation, and vendor training activities, and manage related schedules
- Understanding of equipment lead times and procurement management aligned with construction schedules
- Ability to track and report financial status of projects using MPR Financials or equivalent tools, and recommend cost savings
- Experience creating and managing project schedules for CAM-run projects
- Ability to contribute to clinical workflow discussions and engage stakeholders
- Strong organizational skills for maintaining project data and documentation in accessible formats
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively in cross-functional teams
- Recognized as a credible contributor by customers, peers, and management
- PMI or PMP certification is a plus
