ABOUT THE ROLE

Our client is seeking a Digital & Technology Specialist to support both site and global digital transformation initiatives by delivering robust technical solutions, maintaining and improving operational technology, and ensuring compliance with cGMP, EHS, and quality requirements. This role serves as both an individual contributor and a technical lead on projects, driving continuous improvement and operational excellence. The Digital & Technology Specialist will act as a role model within the Operational Excellence Department and across site departments, upholding high standards in line with company values and leadership expectations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in engineering, computer science, or a related field, with hands-on experience in industrial automation, manufacturing execution systems, and regulated environments. Strong problem-solving and communication skills, as well as the ability to work independently and collaboratively, are essential. The position also requires strict adherence to environmental, health, and safety policies, and active participation in EHS training and continuous improvement initiatives.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Lead and support the implementation and delivery of digital & technology projects and workstreams, including planning, execution, and handover.
  • Provide day-to-day technical support for operational technology, automation, manufacturing systems, and integrations (e.g., MES, SCADA, DCS, historian).
  • Assist with requirements capture, solution design, and technical specifications; translate business needs into implementable technical designs.
  • Develop, maintain, and control project documentation, including functional specifications, test plans, validation protocols, and runbooks.
  • Participate in commissioning, qualification, and validation activities, and support technology transfer into the manufacturing environment.
  • Help maintain and monitor project and operational budgets and capital requirement inputs as required.
  • Maintain effective business relationship management with local, cross-site, and global partners to secure alignment on initiatives.
  • Apply lean and continuous improvement practices to optimize digital & technology programs and demonstrate measurable value.
  • Ensure systems and activities comply with corporate policies, cGMP, EHS, and other applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Provide training, support, and guidance to end users and colleagues on digital tools and processes.
  • Contribute to asset management and lifecycle activities, including upgrades, patching, and obsolescence planning.
  • Escalate technical and project risks appropriately and support mitigation plans.
  • Comply with Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) policies and procedures, including participation in EHS training, use of PPE and safety equipment, and incident reporting.
  • Act as a role model for colleagues, demonstrating high standards of performance and compliance with company values and leadership expectations.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, information systems, or a related technical field.
  • 3–5 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing, pharmaceutical, or regulated environment (adjustable per site needs).
  • Hands-on experience with industrial automation systems, manufacturing execution systems, data historians, or related technologies.
  • Familiarity with Pharma/BioPharma processes and regulatory expectations (cGMP).
  • Working knowledge of ISA S95 & S88 concepts and appreciation of Industry 4.0/IIoT principles.
  • Experience supporting commissioning, qualification, and validation activities is preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and an ability to work independently and as part of cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience with MES, SCADA, PLCs, OPC/UA, MQTT, or industrial networking.
  • Prior exposure to data analytics, machine learning use-cases in manufacturing, or IIoT platforms.
  • Experience in project delivery or as a technical lead on automation/digital projects.
  • Certification in project management, automation technologies, or quality systems (desirable).
  • Commitment to Environmental, Health & Safety compliance, including participation in EHS training, understanding the EHS impact of activities, and reporting incidents or near misses.
