Biomedical Equipment Technician III (BMET III)

Durango, CO

On-Site, Full-Time, 3-Month Contract-to-Hire

$35 - $47 per hour


ABOUT THE ROLE

Our client is seeking an experienced Biomedical Equipment Technician III (BMET III) to join their Clinical Engineering team in Durango, CO. This full-time, onsite, contract-to-hire position is ideal for a skilled professional with a strong background in maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and calibrating a wide variety of medical equipment in a healthcare environment. The BMET III will play a critical role in supporting clinicians and healthcare operations by ensuring medical devices remain safe, compliant, and operational across multiple departments. This role requires independent problem-solving, strong customer service skills, and the ability to manage equipment maintenance activities while collaborating with clinical and technical stakeholders. You will have the opportunity to work within a large, nationally recognized healthcare system, gain exposure to a diverse inventory of biomedical technologies, and contribute to a collaborative Clinical Engineering team dedicated to patient safety and operational excellence.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, calibrations, and repairs on a broad range of biomedical equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex equipment issues with minimal supervision.
  • Conduct equipment performance verification and safety testing in accordance with manufacturer recommendations and regulatory requirements.
  • Document maintenance, repairs, and service activities within the CMMS system.
  • Coordinate with clinicians, nursing staff, and vendors to minimize equipment downtime.
  • Assist with new equipment installations, acceptance testing, and commissioning activities.
  • Support regulatory compliance efforts related to The Joint Commission, CMS, and other applicable standards.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior technicians when needed.
  • Participate in on-call support and emergency response activities as required.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Minimum 10 years of biomedical equipment maintenance experience in a hospital or healthcare environment.
  • Strong experience servicing a diverse portfolio of medical devices, including patient monitoring, infusion pumps, telemetry, and general biomedical equipment.
  • Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and networked medical systems.
  • Experience utilizing computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
  • Technical skills in troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, calibration, and safety testing of medical equipment.
  • Electrical and electronic diagnostics expertise.
  • Strong customer service, communication, and documentation skills.
  • Critical thinking, problem-solving, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively prioritize workload.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with clinical and technical stakeholders.
  • CBET (Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician) certification strongly preferred.
  • Other relevant certifications such as CRES, CLES, CABT, AAMI certifications, or manufacturer-specific training highly desirable.
  • Associate's degree in Biomedical Equipment Technology, Electronics Technology, Military BMET training, or equivalent technical education.
  • Experience supporting large acute-care health systems preferred.
