Job Description:

Travel Biomedical Equipment Technician II (BMET II)

Travel Assignment – Nationwide (Primary placements throughout the Midwest, Southeast, and Northeast)

On-Site

$30–$40/hour (DOE) + Weekly Travel Stipends and Per Diem Eligibility

ABOUT THE ROLE

Our client is a leading healthcare system committed to delivering exceptional patient care through innovative clinical technology and operational excellence. We are seeking an experienced Travel Biomedical Equipment Technician II (BMET II) to provide nationwide support for medical equipment maintenance, repair, and lifecycle management across multiple hospital and healthcare facilities. This 13-week contract role (with potential for extension or conversion) offers the opportunity to work with a diverse range of medical devices while gaining exposure to various healthcare environments nationwide. The BMET II will perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, inspections, calibrations, and safety testing on a wide range of biomedical equipment, working independently and collaboratively with clinical staff, vendors, and facility leadership to ensure equipment reliability and compliance with regulatory standards. The position is full-time (40 hours/week, Monday–Friday) with occasional on-call and weekend coverage as needed. Start date is ASAP.

WHAT YOU'LL DO


  • Perform preventive maintenance and corrective repairs on biomedical equipment according to manufacturer recommendations and hospital policies.
  • Troubleshoot and repair low- to medium-complexity medical devices including patient monitoring systems, infusion pumps, electrosurgical units, telemetry equipment, and vital signs monitors.
  • Conduct incoming inspections, safety testing, and performance verification for newly acquired equipment.
  • Document all service activities accurately within the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
  • Support equipment installations, upgrades, and decommissioning projects.
  • Maintain compliance with Joint Commission, CMS, FDA, and hospital regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with clinicians, department leaders, and facility leadership to resolve equipment-related issues and minimize downtime.
  • Coordinate with third-party vendors for specialized service events when necessary.
  • Travel to assigned healthcare facilities and provide onsite biomedical support as directed.
  • Provide excellent customer service and maintain professional communication with all stakeholders.
  • Participate in ongoing training and stay current with industry best practices and new technologies.

WHAT YOU BRING


  • 3+ years of Biomedical Equipment Technician experience in an acute care hospital environment.
  • Experience servicing a broad range of biomedical devices.
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic abilities.
  • Working knowledge of electrical safety testing procedures and biomedical test equipment.
  • Experience utilizing computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Valid driver's license with ability to travel extensively.
  • Ability to lift and move equipment up to 50 pounds.
  • Associate's Degree in Biomedical Equipment Technology, Electronics Technology, Military Biomedical Training, or equivalent experience preferred.
  • CBET (Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician) preferred.
  • OEM certifications highly preferred but not required.
  • Experience supporting imaging equipment, anesthesia systems, or ventilators is a plus.
  • Prior travel BMET experience and experience with GE, Philips, Dräger, Mindray, Baxter, B. Braun, or Stryker equipment are nice to have.
