Senior Project Manager / Product Manager
Nashville, TN
Hybrid Role
$55 - $70 per hour
ABOUT THE ROLE
Our Client is seeking a Senior Project Manager / Product Manager to join their Enterprise Project Management Office (EPMO) in Nashville, TN. This hybrid role is responsible for leading complex technology, enterprise application, and business transformation initiatives, while supporting the organization’s transition to more product-oriented delivery models. The successful candidate will manage initiatives throughout the full project delivery lifecycle—from initiation and planning through implementation, stabilization, and closeout. You will partner with organizational leaders, business stakeholders, technical teams, vendors, and other partners to define desired outcomes, facilitate prioritization, coordinate roadmaps and backlogs, gather stakeholder feedback, and support approved project-to-product pilot activities. This role is designed to meet current delivery needs while building product management capability at a pace aligned with our evolving operating model. Success in this position is measured by effective project delivery, strong stakeholder relationships, and the advancement of product management capabilities within the organization.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Lead complex technology, enterprise application, and business transformation initiatives across the full project delivery lifecycle, including initiation, planning, implementation, stabilization, and closeout.
- Apply Waterfall, Agile, Scrum, iterative, or hybrid delivery methodologies based on project needs.
- Coordinate work and communication among business, technical, operational, and vendor teams, ensuring alignment and effective collaboration.
- Define and manage project scope, deliverables, milestones, resources, dependencies, risks, issues, changes, and success criteria.
- Develop and maintain project charters, schedules, work plans, budgets, communication plans, status reports, and governance materials.
- Develop and coordinate product roadmaps, release plans, prioritized backlogs, and delivery sequencing in partnership with business and technical teams.
- Facilitate prioritization and trade-off discussions based on customer value, strategic alignment, delivery risk, capacity, dependencies, and expected outcomes.
- Gather and synthesize stakeholder and customer feedback to inform priorities, delivery decisions, and continuous-improvement opportunities.
- Monitor project and delivery performance, including adoption, stakeholder satisfaction, service improvements, and benefits realization where appropriate.
- Mentor and provide guidance to project managers, coordinators, Scrum Masters, and other team members, supporting professional development and portfolio management activities.
- Support project governance, portfolio planning, prioritization, resource planning, and investment decision-making.
- Prepare clear, timely, and executive-ready project reports, dashboards, presentations, and recommendations for leadership and stakeholders.
- Support implementation readiness, organizational change, communication, training, transition, and stabilization activities.
- Maintain accurate project information in Planview, Azure DevOps, or other designated project and portfolio management tools.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of project and product management processes, tools, templates, reporting, and organizational capabilities.
- Help bridge traditional project delivery and longer-term product stewardship while the organization matures its product operating model.
- Identify and escalate risks, issues, blockers, dependencies, and decisions requiring leadership attention.
- Support documentation of pilot lessons learned and contribute to repeatable product-management practices, templates, tools, and guidance.
WHAT YOU BRING
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, information systems, computer science, public administration, project management, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
- At least six years of progressively responsible professional project management experience.
- Demonstrated ability to balance project scope, schedule, budget, and governance with customer value, service outcomes, and continuous improvement.
- Experience leading complex IT, ERP, enterprise application, or business transformation projects, including application implementation, upgrades, modernization, disaster recovery, and business process improvement.
- Experience managing multiple concurrent projects from initiation through implementation and closeout, with competing priorities, risks, resources, and dependencies.
- Proficiency in Waterfall, Agile, Scrum, iterative, or hybrid delivery methodologies, and experience working in prioritized backlog and incremental delivery environments.
- Strong analytical, organizational, facilitation, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences at all organizational levels, including preparing executive-ready reports and presentations.
- Experience developing project schedules, status reports, executive presentations, risk logs, and governance materials.
- Experience leading cross-functional teams including business stakeholders, technical teams, vendors, and executive sponsors.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, and Microsoft Project or comparable tools.
- Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building capabilities, with a collaborative and service-oriented approach.
- Ability to work independently and operate effectively in a collaborative, matrixed environment.
- Ability to manage ambiguity, changing priorities, and competing demands.
- Commitment to accountability, continuous improvement, and service excellence, with strong attention to detail and transparent reporting.
- Preferred: Experience managing vendor-led implementations or multi-vendor environments.
- Preferred: Experience mentoring project management professionals or supporting portfolio management activities.
- Preferred: Experience with Planview, Azure DevOps, or comparable project/portfolio management platforms.
- Preferred: Experience supporting organizational change management, training, implementation readiness, or benefits realization.
- Preferred: Experience supporting an organizational transition from project-based delivery to product-oriented ways of working.
- Preferred: Experience with PeopleSoft Human Capital Management, Financials, Supply Chain Management, or comparable enterprise platforms.
- Preferred: Relevant certifications (e.g., PMP, CSM, PMI-ACP, PSM, SAFe Agilist, Prosci Change Management Certification).
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
- Building strong relationships across teams, business units, technical teams, vendors, and leadership.
- Delivering assigned projects within approved scope, schedule, budget, quality, and governance expectations.
- Demonstrating sound judgment, accountability, collaboration, adaptability, and commitment to service excellence.
- Establishing clear outcomes, priorities, roadmaps, backlogs, success measures, and stakeholder expectations for assigned work.
- Improving project and product-management practices and strengthening organizational delivery capability.
- Maintaining accurate, transparent, and timely project and product-delivery reporting.
- Proactively managing risks, issues, changes, dependencies, blockers, and decisions.
