Job Description:
Business Execution Consultant V – Senior Capital Markets Project Manager
Location: Charlotte, NC
Work Model: Hybrid
Contract: W2 Contract
Pay Rate: $75/hr
Start Date: ASAP
Calculated Hire is supporting a large financial services client in the search for a senior Business Execution Consultant / Capital Markets Project Manager. This role will support a growing Capital Markets book of work within the client’s CIB organization, with initiatives tied to trading, operations, risk, regulatory, technology, and business execution efforts. One key area of focus includes project support related to the buildout of the power trading business.
Job Description
This role is focused on senior-level project execution across Capital Markets initiatives that involve business, operations, technology, risk, compliance, middle office, and trading stakeholders. The team needs someone who can bring structure to complex workstreams, manage senior-level communication, track milestones, own project artifacts, escalate risks, and keep delivery moving.
This is not a pure technology PM role and not a business strategy-only role. The ideal candidate will understand the Capital Markets environment well enough to manage execution, ask thoughtful questions, translate across stakeholder groups, and keep leadership informed through clear status reporting and escalation.
Responsibilities
• Lead and manage multiple Capital Markets projects and workstreams from planning through execution, testing, implementation readiness, and follow-up.
• Partner with business, operations, technology, risk, compliance, middle office, and trading stakeholders to drive project delivery.
• Support initiatives tied to trading business buildout, including potential power trading or commodity-adjacent workflows.
• Develop and maintain project plans, milestone trackers, RAID logs, status reports, executive updates, meeting materials, and implementation documentation.
• Run stakeholder meetings, track action items, manage dependencies, and ensure follow-through across project teams.
• Identify, escalate, and help resolve risks, blockers, issues, and timeline impacts.
• Support UAT coordination, testing readiness, business validation, and implementation planning.
• Translate business needs and operational impacts into clear project documentation and execution plans.
• Maintain project governance and communication routines across senior stakeholders.
• Operate in a hands-on capacity while also providing senior-level judgment, organization, and execution discipline.
Required Skills
• Senior project management or program management experience within Capital Markets, CIB, Global Markets, investment banking, trading, or markets operations.
• Strong understanding of Capital Markets environments, including trading lifecycle, front office, middle office, operations, risk, compliance, or technology stakeholders.
• Experience managing multiple concurrent workstreams, deliverables, timelines, risks, and stakeholder groups.
• Ability to create and maintain project artifacts, including project plans, RAID logs, milestone trackers, status decks, executive updates, and implementation materials.
• Experience supporting UAT, testing coordination, go-live readiness, issue escalation, and post-implementation follow-up.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to partner across business, technology, operations, risk, and compliance teams.
• Ability to operate independently in ambiguous, fast-moving environments with senior stakeholder visibility.
• Hands-on execution style with comfort owning trackers, decks, meetings, follow-ups, and project documentation.
Desired Skills
• Experience with power trading, energy trading, commodity trading, commodity derivatives, futures, options, FX, rates, fixed income, or other traded products.
• Experience supporting electronic trading, trading platforms, vendor trading systems, market data, or trading technology enhancements.
• Background in market risk, model risk, operational risk, regulatory initiatives, trade surveillance, or controls within a Capital Markets environment.
• Experience with Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid project delivery methodologies.
• Experience using Jira, Confluence, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, or similar project management and reporting tools.
• Prior Wells Fargo, large bank, or financial services consulting experience.
Required Qualifications
• 7+ years of project management, program management, business execution, change management, or delivery experience within financial services.
• 5+ years of experience supporting Capital Markets, CIB, trading, markets operations, risk, regulatory, or technology initiatives.
• Experience managing cross-functional stakeholders and driving execution across complex workstreams.
• Ability to work hybrid onsite in Charlotte, NC.
This role sits within the client’s Capital Markets organization and is designed for a senior project execution professional who can manage complex workstreams, communicate with senior stakeholders, and support trading-related business growth initiatives.
