Continuous Improvement Program Consultant (Portfolio Coach & PMO Lead)
Hybrid Role (Onsite in RiNo, Denver 3 days a week)
Long-term Contract (12-month contract with potential FTE conversion)
Compensation: $100 - $110 per hour DOE
ABOUT THE ROLE
Our client is seeking a senior Continuous Improvement Program Consultant to serve as a strategic facilitator, portfolio coach, and PMO lead supporting enterprise customer experience initiatives. This hybrid role, based in Denver, involves leading cross-functional teams through structured problem solving, continuous improvement methodologies, portfolio governance, backlog management, executive reporting, and operational coaching. The consultant will drive organizational adoption of process improvement frameworks, facilitate workshops, guide root cause analysis, and help mature the enterprise customer experience organization. You will be closely tied to Customer Innovation programs focused on transparency and the experience provided to our client’s customers. This is not a traditional project management role; instead, you will help teams move from ambiguity to sustainable execution models, support governance forums, and develop executive-level communications. The position is open for applications until September 14, 2026.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Facilitate cross-functional workshops and structured problem-solving sessions to drive continuous improvement
- Lead teams through continuous improvement methodologies (Lean Six Sigma, Kaizen, etc.) and root cause analysis activities
- Create and implement repeatable operating procedures and governance practices to support organizational maturity
- Coach business leaders and initiative owners on process improvement frameworks and best practices
- Identify process bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and execution risks, and recommend solutions
- Maintain visibility into portfolio health across multiple initiatives, monitoring active work, backlog capacity, and pipeline planning
- Evaluate when initiatives should move from backlog into active execution and track progress, dependencies, risks, and outcomes
- Develop portfolio insights, performance metrics, and monitor execution velocity to identify stalled projects
- Facilitate recurring program meetings, governance forums, and coordinate stakeholders across multiple departments
- Prepare agendas, supporting materials, and discussion topics for governance and work management reviews
- Develop executive-level presentations, reporting packages, and leadership updates for Monthly Operating Reviews and Quarterly Business Reviews
- Present risks, metrics, and recommendations to leadership and executive stakeholders
- Support customer experience initiatives related to outage communications, restoration estimates, customer notifications, outage maps, outage causation communication, observability metrics, billing experience, usage understanding, rate education, and customer confidence initiatives
WHAT YOU BRING
- 8+ years of experience in continuous improvement, business transformation, PMO, or operational excellence
- Background in Lean Six Sigma, Kaizen, Operational Excellence, or similar methodologies
- Strong executive communication skills, with experience preparing executive-level presentations and reporting packages
- Expertise in stakeholder facilitation, consensus-building, and cross-functional team leadership
- Ability to operate independently in ambiguous environments and guide teams from ambiguity to execution
- Experience leading cross-functional teams through structured problem solving and continuous improvement
- Proficiency in portfolio governance, backlog management, pipeline planning, and executive reporting
- Skilled in developing and implementing repeatable operating procedures and governance practices
- Ability to coach business leaders and initiative owners on improvement practices and frameworks
- Experience coordinating stakeholders across multiple departments and supporting governance forums
- Demonstrated focus on customer experience and supporting related initiatives
