This is a 6-month contract-to-hire opportunity based in Novi, MI, focused on the mechanical design and development of battery pack components and sub-systems from concept through production. You will drive design decisions, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and support hands-on prototyping and manufacturing in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment. This role requires strong technical expertise, cross-functional coordination, and a passion for innovation in energy systems.<\/p>\n<h3>WHAT YOU&#8217;LL DO<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Own mechanical design of one or more battery pack components or sub-systems from concept through product launch<\/li>\n<li>Drive design decisions and collaborate with systems, electrical, and analysis teams to ensure all design requirements are met<\/li>\n<li>Identify design risks and develop prototypes to validate and mitigate issues<\/li>\n<li>Engage with suppliers to define specifications, obtain quotes, and support component development<\/li>\n<li>Create 3D CAD models and 2D drawings with GD&#038;T for complex assemblies<\/li>\n<li>Support hands-on prototype builds and work closely with manufacturing and quality teams<\/li>\n<li>Perform tolerance stack analyses to ensure proper fit and functionality<\/li>\n<li>Ensure proper electrical isolation and environmental durability (thermal, vibration, sealing, etc.)<\/li>\n<li>Optimize designs using analytical, numerical, and empirical methods<\/li>\n<li>Contribute to technical problem solving and continuous product improvement<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>WHAT YOU BRING<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Bachelor\u2019s or Master\u2019s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field<\/li>\n<li>2+ years of mechanical design experience (5+ years for Senior level)<\/li>\n<li>Experience designing components such as castings, stampings, extrusions, plastics, sealing systems, bus bars, or cooling systems<\/li>\n<li>Strong 3D CAD experience (Onshape or similar CAD tools)<\/li>\n<li>Experience working with suppliers and design for manufacturability (DFM)<\/li>\n<li>Familiarity with low- to mid-volume manufacturing processes<\/li>\n<li>Ability to interpret structural and thermal analysis results<\/li>\n<li>Strong problem-solving and communication skills in a cross-functional environment<\/li>\n<li>Nice to have: hands-on prototype or product launch experience, battery or energy system background, and experience designing for harsh environments (vibration, corrosion, water ingress, thermal)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>ABOUT US<\/h3>\n<p>At Brooksource, relationships are the foundation of everything we do.
