Role Overview and Why This One is Worth Your Attention

Our major Telecommunications clients’ data engineering team needs a business analyst who wants to be in the middle of the action. You will be the front door for internal stakeholders: taking their requests, digging into what they actually need, and turning that into clear work for the engineers. You will follow projects from the first conversation through analysis and ETL, across teams, rather than staying inside one silo.

What makes this role worth a look is the ownership and the hiring approach. BAs are aligned to technical leads and stay with a project end to end, so you see the full picture and your work is visible. The hiring manager puts energy and drive ahead of a perfect checklist and is willing to teach the rest, which makes this a real opportunity for a data analyst ready to step into a more stakeholder-facing role.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the main point of contact between internal stakeholders and the data engineering team, taking in requests and keeping stakeholders updated.
  • Gather and refine requirements by working back from the problem the stakeholder is trying to solve, not the solution they propose.
  • Document the problem and the requirements, and track work in Jira.
  • Translate between business language and technical language so developers receive clear tickets and stakeholders receive clear expectations.
  • Explain to stakeholders why a request takes the time it does, including query development, validation, code review, and architecture review.
  • Follow assigned projects from analysis through ETL and across teams.
  • Partner with a technical lead and engineering teams to gather status and keep work moving.
  • Balance a workload of multiple concurrent projects.

Required Skills and Experience

Experience

  • Background as a data analyst, business data analyst, data product analyst, or similar role.
  • Experience gathering and documenting requirements, or a strong demonstrated interest in moving into that kind of work.
  • Exposure to working with data engineers or a data engineering team. You do not need to be a data engineer.
  • Prior experience with the Telecommunications client is a plus.

Technical Skills

  • Jira for documenting and tracking work.
  • Enough technical fluency to speak with developers and explain data work to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Preferred: SQL, Tableau, and AWS with Athena.

Mindset and Work Style

  • High energy, proactive, and a go-getter who sees what needs to be done and goes after it.
  • Confident enough to push back on proposed solutions and ask what problem is really being solved.
  • Comfortable driving conversations with stakeholders and developers.
  • Eager to learn. Skills can be taught, attitude cannot.
