Job Description:
Principal Anaplan Architect
Brooksource
Fortune 50 Health Insurance Client
Hybrid On-Site
Overview
We are seeking a Principal Anaplan Architect to play a critical role in a large-scale, multi-year enterprise planning transformation. This individual will serve as a strategic partner to both Finance and HR, leading the design, governance, and evolution of the organization’s Anaplan platform.
This is a net-new role within a newly established Center of Excellence (COE), created to guide and mature an Anaplan implementation that is still in its early stages. The environment is highly visible and collaborative, with current support from major system integrators, and requires a leader who can operate at both a strategic and technical level (approximately 50/50).
The ideal candidate will bring deep enterprise implementation experience and the ability to bridge business strategy with technical execution, helping shape the roadmap, establish governance, and guide delivery teams—without needing to be hands-on in day-to-day coding or integrations.
Key Responsibilities
Enterprise Architecture & Platform Leadership
- Own and evolve the end-to-end Anaplan architecture across Finance and HR domains, including workforce planning and management.
- Define the long-term platform vision, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture, data strategy, and business goals.
- Establish and enforce modeling standards, governance frameworks, and COE best practices.
- Provide architectural oversight and direction to internal teams and external partners (e.g., system integrators).
Strategic Planning & Roadmap Development
- Partner with Finance and HR leadership to define and execute a multi-year enterprise planning roadmap.
- Guide the organization through early-stage implementation, helping scale capabilities as adoption grows.
- Balance immediate delivery needs with long-term platform sustainability and optimization.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives and identify opportunities for innovation.
Solution Design Oversight
- Oversee the design of scalable Anaplan models supporting:
- Finance: Headcount cost modeling, compensation planning, forecasting, and scenario analysis
- HR: Workforce planning, position management, hiring plans, attrition modeling, and analytics
- Ensure seamless integration with enterprise systems (e.g., Workday, SAP, Oracle, Snowflake).
- Provide guidance on reporting and analytics solutions using tools such as Power BI and Tableau.
Cross-Functional Leadership & Collaboration
- Act as the key liaison between IT, Finance, HR, and external implementation partners.
- Lead and mentor cross-functional and distributed teams through design, build, and deployment phases.
- Support change management efforts and drive adoption of enterprise planning capabilities.
Governance, Risk & Compliance
- Ensure adherence to data governance, security, and compliance standards (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, SOX).
- Establish scalable processes for model lifecycle management, access controls, and platform integrity.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience with Anaplan, including architecture, model design, ALM, and platform governance.
- Proven experience leading enterprise-scale Anaplan implementations (required).
- Strong background supporting both Finance and HR planning functions.
- Experience working in complex environments with multiple stakeholders and system integrators.
- Knowledge of enterprise systems and integrations (e.g., Workday, SAP, Oracle, Snowflake).
- Familiarity with integration tools and approaches (APIs, Anaplan Connect, Informatica, MuleSoft, etc.).
- Experience with reporting/visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization.
Preferred Qualifications
- Anaplan Solution Architect or Master Anaplanner certification.
- Experience with other EPM platforms (e.g., Oracle EPM, Adaptive Insights, SAP BPC).
- Background in enterprise architecture, data strategy, or IT business analysis.
- Experience working within or building a Center of Excellence (COE).
- Familiarity with Agile delivery methodologies.
