ABOUT THE ROLE

Brooksource is partnering with a cutting-edge, energy storage company that is transforming the future of electrification through next-generation battery technology. We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to play a key role in the design, development, and validation of advanced battery pack enclosures. This is an opportunity to join a fast-growing, disruptive organization and work alongside some of the brightest minds in energy storage, mechanical design, and systems integration. As a Mechanical Lead Engineer, you will own mechanical pack design from concept through prototype and validation—balancing aggressive performance, cost, and weight targets while supporting rapid innovation. The position offers a dynamic work environment across office, lab, and manufacturing settings, with opportunities for meaningful career growth and impact.

WHAT YOU'LL DO


  • Lead mechanical design, fabrication, assembly, and debugging activities for advanced battery pack systems
  • Design and integrate high-voltage electrical components (bus bars, power electronics) while maintaining proper electrical isolation
  • Own packaging studies, interface analysis, and system-level integration across mechanical, electrical, and thermal domains
  • Perform tolerance stack-ups and define datum and assembly strategies
  • Identify design risks early and rapidly prototype solutions to mitigate them
  • Create detailed 3D CAD models and GD&T drawings for complex parts and assemblies
  • Collaborate with suppliers to define requirements and obtain quotes for prototype and low-volume manufacturing
  • Optimize designs using analytical, numerical, and empirical methods
  • Support program efforts focused on novel battery pack structures and new mechanical concepts
  • Work cross-functionally with structural, thermal, electrical, software, and vehicle integration teams

WHAT YOU BRING


  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
  • 4+ years of experience in battery pack, module, or power electronics mechanical design
  • Strong 3D CAD experience (NX, Teamcenter, SolidWorks, and/or OnShape)
  • Proven experience leading hardware designs from concept through proof-of-concept or prototype validation
  • Hands-on background with sub-assembly and top-level testing, including test plan ownership and model correlation
  • Experience in R&D or prototype-focused environments
  • Familiarity with low-volume manufacturing methods and supplier collaboration
  • Knowledge of structural analysis (metals and/or composites), including fatigue and test data correlation
  • Experience with thermal management of mechanical and electrical systems
  • Ability to design for harsh environmental conditions (vibration, corrosion, water intrusion, thermal exposure)
  • Strong communication, organization, and cross-functional collaboration skills

WORK ENVIRONMENT


  • Onsite role based at company headquarters in Novi, MI
  • Mix of office, lab, and manufacturing floor work
  • Standard schedule: Monday–Friday, with flexibility as business needs require
