Job Description:

Scrum Master

Contract (Potential for Extensions or Conversion)

Fully Remote (CST or EST Time Zone)

$45-50/hour

 

We are seeking a Scrum Master to support multiple Agile engineering teams focused on Customer, Data, and Account Experience platforms. The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of Agile methodologies, excels at facilitating Scrum ceremonies, and brings exceptional leadership, organization, and communication skills while partnering with highly technical backend engineering teams. Experience supporting release management activities is highly desirable.

 

Key Responsibilities

Scrum Leadership

  • Serve as Scrum Master for multiple cross-functional Agile engineering teams, ensuring adherence to Scrum principles and Agile best practices.
  • Facilitate Sprint Planning, Daily Stand-ups, Sprint Reviews, Sprint Retrospectives, and Backlog Refinement sessions.
  • Support Quarterly Planning (PI Planning) and help align team objectives with broader organizational priorities.
  • Remove impediments and proactively identify risks that could impact team delivery.

 

Agile Coaching

  • Coach development teams, Product Managers, and stakeholders on Agile values, Scrum practices, and continuous improvement.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and servant leadership.
  • Help teams identify actionable improvements during retrospectives and ensure they are incorporated into future sprint planning.
  • Encourage healthy Agile practices while adapting processes to meet team needs.

 

Delivery & Team Enablement

  • Support engineering teams building backend microservices, APIs, and cloud-native applications.
  • Support release planning and release management activities by coordinating dependencies, aligning stakeholders, and helping ensure successful software releases.
  • Partner closely with Engineering Managers, Architects, Product Managers, and technical stakeholders to coordinate priorities and remove delivery obstacles.
  • Help manage cross-team dependencies and facilitate communication across multiple engineering teams.
  • Promote transparency around sprint goals, team capacity, and delivery commitments.

 

Metrics & Reporting

  • Track and analyze Agile delivery metrics including velocity, sprint predictability, cycle time, throughput, and defect trends.
  • Utilize Jira to maintain accurate sprint data, dashboards, and reporting.
  • Provide insights that help teams improve delivery predictability and overall performance.

 

DevOps & Continuous Delivery

  • Partner with engineering teams utilizing CI/CD pipelines and modern software delivery practices.
  • Promote collaboration between development, QA, and Product teams throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Support continuous delivery initiatives and advocate for quality throughout sprint execution.

 

Qualifications

  • 1-3 years of experience serving as a Scrum Master supporting software engineering teams.
  • Experience facilitating Agile ceremonies for multiple cross-functional Scrum teams.
  • Strong understanding of Scrum principles, Agile methodologies, and software development lifecycles.
  • Experience supporting backend engineering teams developing microservices, APIs, or cloud-based applications.
  • Experience supporting software release planning, release coordination, or release management activities.
  • Advanced proficiency with Jira for backlog management, sprint planning, dashboards, and reporting.
  • Experience collaborating with Engineering Managers, Product Managers, and technical leadership.
  • Strong facilitation, communication, conflict resolution, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience identifying risks, managing dependencies, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Scrum certification such as CSM, PSM, SAFe Scrum Master, or equivalent.
  • Experience supporting Customer Experience, Account Management, Data Platform, or backend engineering organizations.
  • Familiarity with microservices architecture, APIs, cloud-native applications, and DevOps practices.
  • Experience working in environments utilizing CI/CD pipelines and modern engineering practices.
  • Experience supporting distributed or remote Agile teams.
