4-month contract

ABOUT THE ROLE

Our client is seeking a Senior Training Specialist for a four-month contract to support Phase 1 of an SAP Transportation Management (SAP TMS) implementation. This role is responsible for end-to-end instructional design, development, and delivery of comprehensive training programs for corporate transportation teams, vendors, and key stakeholders impacted by new SAP TM processes and a custom vendor portal. The specialist will create role-based learning materials, facilitate training sessions, and ensure content is tailored for both internal and external audiences, including transportation planners, analysts, carrier management, settlement teams, leadership, data stewards, and high-volume vendors. The position requires expertise in instructional design, the ability to translate complex technical processes into clear training content, and experience supporting organizational change management activities. Direct experience with SAP TM and related supply chain systems is strongly preferred, as is the ability to scale training for a broad range of users and support post-training adoption and feedback. The initial training will focus on a pilot group of five high-volume vendors and will scale to approximately 500 vendors over time, including vendor shipping roles and key vendor contacts. Training must address the importance of accurate carrier setup, vendor data, location data, and master data quality, as SAP TM planning and tendering depend heavily on reliable data.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Design and develop end-to-end, role-based training materials for SAP TMS and custom vendor portal functionality, including quick reference guides, job aids, facilitator materials, and supporting documentation.
  • Partner with OCM, Product, Data, Transportation, IT, and business SMEs to understand process impacts, system functionality, and stakeholder learning needs.
  • Create and deliver practical, detailed training content for SAP TM workflows, vendor readiness, tendering, visibility, exception management, and related transportation processes.
  • Lead training delivery for the initial vendor pilot group and help build a scalable enablement model for broader vendor rollout (up to 500 vendors).
  • Develop training that supports corporate transportation users, data stewards, transportation data owners, settlement teams, leadership, and other impacted stakeholders.
  • Apply instructional design best practices across analysis, design, development, implementation, delivery, and evaluation phases.
  • Ensure learning materials are clear, accurate, audience-specific, and suitable for both live and self-service training formats.
  • Support training readiness, feedback collection, content refinement, and post-training adoption support during the engagement period.
  • Address the importance of accurate carrier setup, vendor data, location data, and master data quality in all training content.
  • Contribute to Organizational Change Management activities, including stakeholder readiness, adoption, communications alignment, and training evaluation.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Demonstrated experience as an instructional designer, training lead, or instructional architect supporting enterprise technology implementations.
  • Ability to execute at a detailed, micro-level while also understanding broader business process and change impact.
  • Experience developing training for complex systems, operational workflows, and role-based audiences.
  • Strong ability to work with SMEs, interpret process documentation, and convert technical or operational information into effective learning content.
  • Experience supporting Organizational Change Management activities, including stakeholder readiness, adoption, communications alignment, and training evaluation.
  • Strong written communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to produce polished, business-ready training materials.
  • Availability to support an immediate four-month engagement totaling approximately 680 hours.
  • Direct SAP Transportation Management (SAP TM) experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience with SAP S/4HANA, SAP Extended Warehouse Management (SAP EWM), SAP Ariba, or other SAP-enabled supply chain transformations preferred.
  • Experience supporting implementations using the SAP Activate methodology.
  • Background in transportation, distribution, supply chain, vendor enablement, carrier management, freight settlement, or logistics environments.
  • Experience developing training for external partner audiences, including vendors, carriers, suppliers, or third-party business users.
