Job Description:
Associate Software Engineer (Elevate) — Front‑End (React) or Back‑End (Services)
Denver / Greenwood Village, CO (Hybrid)
Attendance: Hybrid
Compensation: $35 per hour
ABOUT THE ROLE
Charter Communications, through the Brooksource Elevate 12-month professional development and mentorship program, is seeking two Associate Software Engineers (one Front-End, one Back-End) to join its growing team supporting new enterprise mobile experiences. This role is ideal for recent graduates, veterans, career shifters, and early-career developers with 0–6 months of experience who are eager to learn and make a real impact. You’ll be embedded on a product team, paired with experienced mentors in an “anchor model,” and supported by a structured curriculum and coaching that accelerates your growth without the chaos of learning alone. You’ll join a peer cohort, contribute to production UI and services, and help Charter build sustainable, onshore engineering depth and continuity. Elevate Associates typically reach 87–89% of mid-level productivity by month 9, with an 85% two-year retention rate after conversion.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Build and iterate on enterprise-scale capabilities used by internal teams and business customers
- Develop production-ready UI components and pages using React (v18) and TypeScript, adhering to Charter’s design system
- Implement forms, data tables, and interactive patterns with effective client- and server-state management
- Ensure software performance, accessibility (a11y), and cross-browser responsiveness
- Write unit and integration tests; participate in code reviews and maintain Storybook documentation
- Collaborate with designers, QA, and back-end engineers to deliver reliable and usable features
- Ship iteratively: small stories, high-quality code, peer reviews, and observable releases
- Learn and apply a modern toolchain used across Charter product teams (e.g., React 18 + hooks, TypeScript, TanStack Query, React Hook Form/Formik, Storybook, Vitest/Jest, Playwright, Vite/Webpack, ESLint/Prettier, Git, CI/CD)
- Engage in mentorship and professional development as part of the Elevate program cohort
- Contribute to Charter’s onshore engineering pipeline and long-term team continuity
WHAT YOU BRING
- Solid JavaScript/TypeScript fundamentals and React coursework or projects
- Understanding of component composition, state, and effect management
- Basic testing mindset (e.g., knowledge of unit vs. integration testing)
- Curiosity, coachability, and strong communication skills
- Familiarity with accessibility basics (WCAG), performance profiling, or API mocking is a plus
- Exposure to migrations (e.g., Angular → React) is a bonus
- Motivation to learn, collaborate, and contribute in a fast-paced, supportive environment
WHAT'S IN IT FOR YOU
- Structured 12-month professional development and mentorship program
- Embedded mentorship with experienced engineers (“anchor model”)
- Cohort-based onboarding—never the only junior on the team
- Opportunities to contribute to production software and real business impact
- Proven ramp and high retention rates for Elevate Associates
- Supportive, growth-focused environment with a clear path to full-time conversion
