ABOUT THE ROLE
Join the Application Solutions Enablement team at a leading Fortune 200 Energy Generation company as an IT Financial Analyst, supporting high-visibility, large-scale IT capital programs valued at $50M+ across multiple portfolios. In this critical role, you will provide comprehensive financial oversight—including capital and expense budgeting, forecasting, month-end close activities, variance analysis, and management reporting—while acting as a key liaison between IT managers, budget owners, and financial planners. You will play a pivotal part in stabilizing operations, enhancing coordination and execution across budgets, contracts, forecasts, and resource plans, and driving process improvements and automation within financial workflows. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly autonomous, and thrives in a fast-paced, data-driven environment, with a passion for improving efficiency, accuracy, and scalability in financial operations.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Act as a liaison between IT managers, budget owners, and financial planners to ensure accurate alignment of forecasts, budgets, and actuals
- Provide financial oversight for large enterprise IT projects, including capital vs. expense tracking and funding accuracy
- Assist IT managers in developing long-term financial outlooks, including multi-year capital, resource, and contract planning
- Conduct month-end financial close activities, including accrual analysis, variance investigation, and reconciliation of actuals to forecast
- Perform labor and headcount analysis, reconciling resource plans to forecasts and identifying missing allocations or discrepancies
- Maintain and monitor project financials within ServiceNow, ensuring accurate cost plans, resource plans, and 100% allocation accuracy
- Support invoice processing, contract tracking, budget accuracy checks, and vendor issue resolution
- Prepare management and leadership reporting, including variance explanations and insights for executive presentations
- Identify and recommend process improvements to enhance financial analysis, forecasting accuracy, and reporting efficiency
- Evaluate and optimize Excel-based processes, including large data set analysis, GL detail review, and recurring reporting automation
- Partner with stakeholders to identify risks, gaps, and optimization opportunities across IT portfolios
- Ensure accurate and timely data entry across financial systems and tools (e.g., ServiceNow, Asset Suite 9, Excel)
WHAT YOU BRING
- Undergraduate degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Strong experience supporting financial management within IT portfolios or large-scale projects, including capital and expense programs
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/HLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, complex formulas, multi-sheet data integration)
- Strong analytical skills with ability to reconcile large data sets and identify gaps, risks, or inconsistencies
- Knowledge of financial processes: accruals, estimates, project budgets, forecasting, and variance analysis
- Experience managing shifting financials and aligning forecasts with actuals
- Understanding of contract management and resource planning concepts
- Ability to work independently with minimal guidance and manage competing priorities
- Excellent communication skills for interfacing with IT, business partners, and senior leadership
- Strong judgment, consulting mindset, and problem-solving capabilities
- Positive attitude, adaptability, and willingness to operate in a dynamic environment
- Experience with ServiceNow Financial Management modules (resource planning, cost plans, forecasting) is a plus
- Experience with Asset Suite 9 (AS9), Oracle billing systems, Power BI, or Power Automate is a plus
- Experience leveraging Copilot or AI-assisted tools for financial analysis is a plus (with understanding of underlying formulas and logic)
