Paint Technician (Evening Shift)
Orlando, FL
On-Site role
$17.64–22.00 per hour (DOE) + 5% shift differential
ABOUT THE ROLE
Our client, a leading university in Orlando, is seeking two skilled Paint Technicians for full-time, contract-to-hire positions on the evening shift. As a key member of the Facilities and Business Operations team, you will help maintain the aesthetic and functional integrity of campus buildings by delivering high-quality interior and exterior painting, surface preparation, and general building maintenance. This on-site role offers a competitive hourly wage with a 5% shift differential for evening hours, comprehensive health benefits, and opportunities for professional growth within a collaborative team environment. The standard schedule is Wednesday–Saturday, 1:30 PM – 12:00 AM, with temporary adjustments (Monday–Friday, 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM) possible during training.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Perform high-quality painting services on a variety of surfaces including walls, ceilings, doors, and trim across campus facilities.
- Prepare surfaces by cleaning, sanding, scraping, patching, and repairing imperfections to ensure proper paint adhesion.
- Apply paints, coatings, and finishes using brushes, rollers, and spray equipment.
- Match paint colors for touch-ups, including working with discontinued or aged paint.
- Complete light carpentry and surface repairs before painting, such as drywall patching and sanding.
- Maintain clean and organized work areas and ensure all tools are properly used and stored.
- Collaborate with other campus departments and teams to prioritize and address maintenance needs.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding work progress and timelines.
WHAT YOU BRING
- 3+ years of hands-on experience in painting or building maintenance roles.
- Strong knowledge of interior and exterior painting techniques, tools, and surface preparation.
- Ability to identify and match paint colors, including blending and touch-up work.
- Experience using spray rigs, rollers, brushes, and other professional painting equipment.
- Basic carpentry skills to complete surface repairs and prep work.
- Conversational English skills to communicate effectively with team members and campus departments.
- Comfortable working independently and as part of a maintenance team in a large-scale institutional environment.
