Contract Duration: 6 months, with possibility for extension or conversion

ABOUT THE ROLE

Our client’s Network Technology Services (NTS) organization is expanding its AI architecture team to support the build-out of an enterprise-scale, cloud-agnostic AI platform. We are seeking a high-level, hands-on Senior AWS AI Architect with deep, production-hardened expertise in AWS’ AI/ML ecosystem. In this onsite role, you will lead the architecture and design of AWS-based AI/ML components, drive the real-world deployment of agentic AI solutions for autonomous networking, and ensure regulatory compliance in a highly collaborative environment. You will work closely with a large team of engineers and architects, translating architectural vision into actionable engineering tasks, and architecting systems with human-in-the-loop controls. This is a contract position (6 months) with the potential for extension or conversion.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Lead architecture design for AWS-based AI/ML components within a cloud-agnostic AI platform
  • Evaluate and evolve existing reference architectures for long-term production readiness
  • Collaborate with peer architects across AWS, GCP, and on-prem (NVIDIA) environments to ensure architectural alignment
  • Translate architectural designs into actionable development tasks for engineering teams
  • Provide guidance on system integration, service wiring, and operationalization of AI/ML workloads
  • Break down features into engineering deliverables in partnership with the Director of Engineering
  • Apply expertise in AWS-native LLMs (e.g., Amazon Nova, Anthropic Claude via Bedrock, Bedrock models)
  • Engage with engineering leads, data teams, and internal stakeholders across NTS to drive project success
  • Participate in whiteboarding sessions, technical reviews, and architecture governance activities
  • Ensure all AI workloads comply with regulatory requirements and guardrails (e.g., Colorado AI regulations)
  • Architect systems with “human in the loop” controls, particularly for autonomous networking workflows
  • Support the breakdown of features into engineering deliverables and provide technical leadership to a team of 40 engineers and architects

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Extensive experience as an AWS Architect with a hands-on engineering background
  • Proven expertise in designing and deploying production-grade AI/ML solutions using AWS services, including Bedrock, SageMaker, Agentic/Orchestration tooling (e.g., Strands), LLMs (Nova, Anthropic Claude), EMR, Kinesis, Neptune/Neptune ML, S3, Data Lake, Aurora, and RDS
  • Ability to decompose architecture into actionable engineering tasks and understand development workflows
  • Experience designing workflows that integrate automation with human oversight (“human in the loop”)
  • Background in highly regulated industries (e.g., Telco, Healthcare, Finance) is highly preferred
  • Skilled in architecting scalable, secure, and compliant AI/ML systems
  • Strong collaboration skills; able to work onsite and participate in frequent whiteboarding and technical reviews
  • Experience partnering with cross-functional teams across AWS, GCP, and on-prem environments
  • Ability to ensure AI workloads adhere to regulatory requirements and industry best practices
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills to guide and mentor engineering teams
