Job Description:
Document Capture Technician Brooksource | Nashville, TN (On-Site) | Full-Time, ~4 Months
About the Opportunity
Brooksource is partnering with a criminal-justice software firm supporting law enforcement and state agencies across the country. Through a project with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, our client is digitizing approximately 300,000 historical court records stored at the Davidson County Archive. We are placing a team of six Document Capture Technicians to execute this on-site capture project from start to finish.
This is a fixed-term, full-time engagement running roughly 17 weeks, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. All equipment is provided.
What You'll Do
- Pull archive boxes from vertical shelving (up to 10 shelves high) using on-site movable stairs, transport to the workspace, and return completed boxes to their original location
- Extract forms from folders in strict sequence, build scan-ready stacks, and refolder documents after scanning
- Operate a commercial sheet-fed scanner on a client-provided laptop or iPad, monitor scan quality, and flag any errors in real time
- Record daily production metrics and surface any pace or equipment issues to the project lead same day
- Cross-train on all three functions (extraction, scanning, refoldering) and flex where the team needs it to hit the daily quota of roughly 1,800 forms per day
- Handle aged paper records with care and maintain strict order discipline throughout
What We're Looking For
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Authorized to work in the United States
- Able to pass a criminal background check (required for access to court records)
- Reliable transportation to 1417 Murfreesboro Pike, Nashville for the full engagement
- Detail-oriented with strong memory for sequence and order
- Comfortable using a laptop or iPad for basic software operation
- Able to follow written and verbal procedures consistently and work well in a small team
Preferred but not required: prior experience in records management, document scanning, data entry, or a regulated high-accuracy environment.
Physical Requirements
This is not a desk job. You must be able to:
- Climb a movable archive ladder to access shelving up to 10 shelves high, repeatedly throughout the day
- Lift and carry archive boxes up to 40 lbs multiple times per day
- Stand and walk for six or more hours per day
- Bend, reach, twist, and squat repeatedly during box and folder handling
- Perform sustained fine-motor paper handling throughout the shift
Box transport is a core function of this role. Reasonable ADA accommodations will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Work Environment
On-site only at the Davidson County Archive in Nashville. All tables, scanning equipment, and a private wireless network are provided. Personal protective equipment (gloves, dust mask) is available for working with older paper.
