We are seeking an experienced Agile Coach to support and guide Lean-Agile transformation across multiple portfolios within a complex, scaled environment. This role is crucial in enabling true business agility, optimizing the flow of value, and aligning teams to strategic outcomes using SAFe® and Lean Portfolio Management practices.


While coaching is a part of this role (~15-20%), the focus is on strategic enablement, tooling leadership (especially Jira Align), and partnering across both leadership and delivery teams to ensure the portfolios are structured for agility — not hierarchy. This is a role for a strong self-starter who can work independently, influence change, and navigate complex enterprise dynamics.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lean-Agile Coaching & Transformation Leadership
    • Serve as a coach to Release Train Engineers (RTEs), Scrum Masters, and Agile teams within the portfolio spokes.
    • Partner with IT and Business leaders to challenge traditional structures and facilitate meaningful conversations about value delivery and team design.
    • Model and promote SAFe® principles, Lean thinking, and Agile values throughout the organization.
    • Organize and support Communities of Practice (CoPs) and local LACE initiatives.
    • Mentor and support leadership (especially in platform environments) on how to lead through influence rather than hierarchy.
  • Enterprise Tooling – Jira Align Champion
    • Lead Jira Align adoption across ARTs and portfolios.
    • Partner with teams to ensure alignment between configuration and organizational structure.
    • Conduct training sessions and offer ongoing support tailored to each portfolio’s needs.
    • Collaborate with Agile tooling teams to evolve tool usage and maintain best practices.
  • Portfolio & Flow Optimization
    • Facilitate Value Stream Mapping, Portfolio Kanban adoption, and transformation planning.
    • Coach leadership on flow metrics and SAFe’s 8 Flow Accelerators.
    • Support and optimize portfolio-level events such as PI Planning and Solution Demos.
    • Provide thought leadership around Lean Portfolio Management and its integration with business strategy.
  • Leadership Coaching & Advocacy
    • Act as a strategic partner to business and IT leaders to promote agile thinking and enterprise agility.
    • Help influence leadership by demonstrating value through new ways of working.
    • Create and maintain transformation communication plans that promote alignment and transparency across spokes.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Active SAFe® 6.0 Program Consultant (SPC) certification.
  • Experience implementing Lean Portfolio Management at scale.
  • Strong working knowledge and hands-on experience with Jira Align.
  • Demonstrated experience in Agile transformation efforts within large, complex organizations.
  • Proven ability to coach across organizational levels, including executives, product leaders, and delivery teams.
  • Exceptional communication, facilitation, and influencing skills.
  • Comfortable navigating platform-oriented portfolios and understanding their unique dynamics.

Nice to Have:

  • Advanced SAFe® Program Consultant (ASPC) certification or willingness to obtain within 4 months.
  • Experience working in platform portfolio environments.
  • Previous experience working in spoke/hub organizational models.
  • Background in change management and enterprise tooling strategy.
