Job Title: Infrastructure Application Administrator
Type: Contract to Hire
Location: On-site in Westlake, TX
Hourly Rate: $40-45 per hour
Overview
Our client is seeking an experienced Infrastructure Application Administrator to support and manage enterprise application and server environments within a dynamic, high-visibility campus setting in Westlake, TX. This on-site, contract-to-hire position blends systems administration, application support, vendor coordination, and infrastructure operations to ensure stable, secure, and high-performing technology services. The role requires a proactive approach to troubleshooting, continuous improvement, and system modernization, as well as strong communication and collaboration skills. Daily Responsibilities:
- Administer, configure, monitor, and test Windows-based application servers supporting business operations.
- Manage server maintenance activities, including upgrades, patching, backups, and performance monitoring.
- Troubleshoot application and infrastructure issues impacting production environments, ensuring rapid resolution and minimal downtime.
- Coordinate with vendors to maintain system stability and performance across distributed server environments.
- Support incident, change, and problem management processes (ITIL-aligned), ensuring compliance and documentation.
- Assist in deploying new applications and infrastructure solutions alongside senior engineers, contributing to modernization initiatives.
- Provide technical recommendations for system enhancements and participate in continuous improvement efforts.
- Maintain accurate documentation and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with security standards, best practices, and regulatory requirements.
- Perform root cause analysis and drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance system reliability and efficiency.
- Monitor systems and respond to alerts to ensure high availability and optimal performance.
- Support infrastructure and systems operations, including virtualization (VMware ESXi) and cloud environments.
- Participate in project coordination or project management activities as needed.
Required Experience:
- 8+ years supporting IT infrastructure systems and network environments (6+ years with advanced degree considered).
- 2+ years hands-on experience supporting Windows environments, including Windows Server administration (2016–2022).
- Strong application troubleshooting skills and experience with Microsoft Office / Microsoft 365.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Project coordination or project management exposure (preferred).
- Scripting experience (PowerShell, VBS, Python, etc.).
- Experience with VMware ESXi hosting environments.
- Cloud certifications (Azure, AWS, or GCP) preferred.
- MCSE or related Microsoft certifications (preferred).
- Knowledge of access control systems and basic IP addressing/scheming.
- Familiarity with cybersecurity best practices and compliance standards.
- Experience with enterprise hospitality or campus-based technology environments (a plus).
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving mindset, with the ability to prioritize and remain calm under pressure.
- Clear communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Team-oriented, adaptable, and eager to learn new systems and technologies.
