Job Description:
Business Analyst – Automation & RPA
Hybrid Role
Compensation: $42 - $74 CAD
ABOUT THE ROLE
Our client is seeking a Business Analyst – Automation & RPA to support Robotic Process Automation (RPA) and automation initiatives within Fraud Operations. This hybrid role combines business analysis and project management responsibilities, partnering closely with Fraud Operations teams, Automation Developers, IT, and external vendors to identify automation opportunities, define requirements, and ensure successful delivery of automation solutions into Business-as-Usual (BAU). The position is hands-on, involving opportunity discovery, requirements documentation, project planning, testing, deployment support, and change management. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, able to build rapport quickly with operational stakeholders, and comfortable translating high-level process maps into clear, actionable requirements and delivery plans. Experience in operations-heavy environments such as fraud, risk, compliance, or financial services, and proficiency with RPA platforms like UiPath and Blue Prism, are essential for success in this role.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Partner with Fraud Operations teams to assess current-state processes and identify automation and efficiency opportunities.
- Review and validate high-level process maps; conduct working sessions and side-by-sides with business users to define detailed process steps, decision points, risks, and exceptions.
- Analyze process complexity, controls, and operational risk considerations relevant to Fraud workflows.
- Clearly articulate automation opportunities, business value, and feasibility to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Lead requirements documentation efforts, translating operational needs into clear, structured automation requirements.
- Produce deliverables including process flows, functional requirements, use cases, user expected results, automation intake documentation, test cases, and acceptance criteria.
- Validate requirements with stakeholders through walkthroughs and reviews to ensure alignment with business needs and automation standards.
- Act as a liaison between Operations, Automation Developers, IT, and vendors to ensure requirements are fully understood and achievable.
- Build and manage automation project plans, typically covering 2–3 month delivery horizons, defining tasks, milestones, dependencies, and timelines aligned to RPA delivery frameworks.
- Coordinate day-to-day project activities across business, development, and vendor resources; track progress, manage risks and issues, and proactively drive delivery to key milestones.
- Support prioritization and sequencing of automation initiatives across Fraud Operations.
- Develop and execute test plans; support user acceptance testing (UAT) and defect triage.
- Partner with Automation Developers to validate solutions meet operational expectations with minimal production issues.
- Support change management activities including readiness assessments, stakeholder communication, and BAU transition planning.
- Assist with documentation and handoff materials to ensure smooth adoption and operational sustainment.
- Serve as a central point of contact between Fraud Operations, Automation/RPA development teams, IT partners, and external automation vendors.
- Engage with vendors or internal automation teams to understand solution capabilities, deployment effort, and constraints.
- Build strong relationships with operational leaders and subject matter experts through credibility, responsiveness, and clear communication.
WHAT YOU BRING
- 3–7 years of experience in Business Analysis, Process Improvement, Automation, or Project Management roles.
- Demonstrated experience supporting RPA or automation initiatives within operations-heavy environments (Fraud, Risk, Compliance, or Financial Services preferred).
- Strong ability to document clear, actionable requirements and create/manage project plans.
- Proven facilitation skills for workshops and stakeholder discussions.
- Ability to translate business needs into technical solutions.
- Highly detail-oriented with strong organizational and documentation skills.
- Experience managing multiple stakeholders and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to influence and drive alignment.
- Comfortable operating independently while collaborating cross-functionally.
- Familiarity with RPA platforms (UiPath, Blue Prism) and financial services systems (Fiserv, FIS, Temenos, Equifax, Netreveal).
- Understanding of SDLC and RPA delivery lifecycles.
