Remote Role

Compensation: $70 - $75 per hour

ABOUT THE ROLE

Our client is seeking a Technical Lead to drive the technical delivery of high-impact AI and Data Intelligence initiatives. This hybrid "player-coach" role is critical for providing both high-level architectural guidance and hands-on engineering expertise across multiple concurrent projects. As the technical anchor for the team, you will ensure that solutions and products are scalable, secure, and aligned with DaVita’s reference architecture on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). You will oversee multi-project execution, define and validate system architectures, mentor technical staff, and partner with stakeholders to translate complex business requirements into actionable technical solutions. The ideal candidate thrives in fast-paced environments, demonstrates resilience, and is adept at context-switching between strategic oversight and hands-on problem-solving.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Oversee the technical execution and delivery of multiple concurrent AI/ML and Data Intelligence projects, ensuring alignment with project timelines and business value
• Define, validate, and review system architectures for AI applications, ensuring they meet non-functional requirements such as scalability, reliability, and security on Google Cloud Platform
• Lead technical design reviews and approve solution patterns, including RAG architectures and event-driven pipelines
• Mentor and guide Senior Developers, Data Scientists, and Engineers; conduct code reviews to ensure best practices in software engineering, CI/CD, and testing are followed
• Partner with Product Managers and Business Stakeholders to translate complex business requirements into technical specifications and roadmaps
• Actively contribute hands-on code to critical project paths, developing and maintaining robust data pipelines and API services
• Operationalize machine learning models using Vertex AI, build automated pipelines, and integrate models into clinical workflows (e.g., within CWOW or OneView)
• Troubleshoot and resolve critical production issues, performing root cause analysis for complex incidents
• Implement and manage DevOps practices using GitLab CI/CD, Docker, and Terraform
• Ensure all solutions are aligned with DaVita’s reference architecture and business objectives
• Communicate technical concepts and trade-offs effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Demonstrate adaptability and a "can-do" attitude to unblock the team in a fast-paced, shifting environment

WHAT YOU BRING

• Deep expertise in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services, including Vertex AI, BigQuery, Cloud Composer (Airflow), Cloud Run, GKE (Kubernetes), and Cloud Storage
• Advanced proficiency in Python (for AI/Data) and SQL
• Experience with Vertex AI, LLM orchestration (e.g., LangChain), and MLOps practices (model monitoring, feature stores, automated retraining)
• Hands-on experience with GitLab CI/CD, Docker, and Terraform
• 7+ years of progressively responsible experience in software engineering or related areas, with at least 2+ years in a Technical Lead or Principal Engineer capacity
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent practical experience)
• Proven ability to oversee multiple concurrent technical projects and deliver high-impact AI/Data Intelligence initiatives
• Strong architectural and technical design skills for scalable, reliable, and secure AI applications
• Ability to mentor and guide Senior Developers, Data Scientists, and Engineers
• Excellent communication skills to explain technical trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders and provide clear direction to developers
• Demonstrated resilience and adaptability in fast-paced, shifting environments
• Proven ability to context-switch effectively between high-level strategy and hands-on engineering tasks
