On-Site Role (Travel required to all three plants and facilities)

Compensation: $100,000 - $120,000 per year (Opportunity for Overtime)

ABOUT THE ROLE

Our client is seeking a Construction Supervisor – Commercial Generation to oversee and coordinate field installation activities across multiple plants and facilities. This role is responsible for ensuring the quality, safety, and compliance of all construction work, with a focus on heavy industrial and commercial building projects. The Construction Supervisor will assist in preparing subcontract packages, monitor contractor performance, review project designs for constructability, and manage contract changes. The position requires at least 10 years of experience in industrial/commercial construction or construction management, strong knowledge of construction codes and standards, and proven leadership and organizational skills. The role involves indirect supervision of contractors and subcontractors, planning and scheduling project activities, and supporting outage and project management efforts. The successful candidate must be willing to travel between sites, work overtime (including nightshifts and weekends as needed), and handle a variety of mechanical, civil/structural, and electrical projects in diverse work environments, including both indoor and outdoor conditions and exposure to inclement weather and high noise levels.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Ensure quality of work performed and identify critical items that may impact project work schedules
  • Review project designs for constructability, minimizing potential scope changes after award, and coordinate contract change notices with contract personnel
  • Monitor and enforce safe, cost-effective contractor work practices, supporting a ZERO accident philosophy, and ensure regulatory, safety, and environmental compliance
  • Assist in preparation and management of field installation subcontract packages
  • Inspect ongoing work activities to confirm contractor performance to project plans, specifications, and regulatory requirements, including QA/QC and commissioning aspects
  • Monitor all assigned projects for work rule compliance and manage the triple constraint (scope, schedule, cost) related to project management
  • Review contractor progress and critical path activities through regular meetings
  • Assist with planning, establishing, and tracking project schedules, performance, and productivity against estimates
  • Support outage and project management efforts, including bidding, evaluation, and award of work packages; oversee all contracted scopes of work assigned, including tasks in power plant facilities, heavy industrial work areas, and commercial building projects
  • Oversee a wide range of mechanical, civil/structural, and electrical contracted work, including maintenance and building trades (e.g., electrical systems, boilers, welding, turbines, generators, pumps, HVAC, piping, septic systems, excavations, roofing, fire protection, concrete, drywall, bathroom remodeling, and more)
  • Assign duties and responsibilities to contractors and subcontractors and monitor work progress on assigned projects
  • Perform any other duties or special assignments as assigned by the Manager

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Minimum high school education; construction management training required
  • College degree or technical/military trade school preferred (Associate of Applied Science or equivalent); a college degree may be considered in lieu of four years of experience
  • At least 10 years’ experience in heavy industrial/commercial construction or construction management, including piping, mechanical, and/or civil/structural work in power plant or heavy industrial/commercial environments
  • Knowledge of construction codes/standards (AWS, ASME, ASTM, OSHA 0910/1926, etc.)
  • Strong leadership, team building, and communication skills, including outage/work task coordination, planning, scheduling, and QA/QC experience
  • Experience supervising contractors, subcontractors, and assigned personnel (indirect supervision)
  • Ability to plan, organize, and oversee Mechanical, Civil/Structural, and Electrical projects to support department goals
  • Experience with contract scope writing and working with contract administrators
  • Familiarity with computerized work management systems
  • Ability to cross-train in project management, planning, estimating, bidding, awarding, scheduling, and oversee multiple tasks/projects simultaneously
  • Willingness to work overtime, nightshifts, weekends, and travel to multiple facilities as required
  • Ability to work in varying indoor/outdoor conditions, including inclement weather, cold, heat, humidity, and high noise levels
  • Accountability for handling multiple duties and responsibilities
