About Our Client
Our client is a growing venture capital firm based in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, with a dynamic portfolio that spans multiple fund structures and business interests. The firm is actively expanding into agricultural investment with a newly launched agricultural fund and maintains an international investor base that includes overseas fund structures (Cayman Islands / BVI). With seven professionals on staff and an ambitious roadmap to reach $500M in assets under management within 3–5 years, the firm is at an exciting inflection point — building the financial infrastructure and leadership team to support its next phase of growth.
The firm operates with an entrepreneurial, results-driven culture. Team members thrive in a competitive, high-accountability environment where initiative is rewarded and leadership is earned. The firm is developing proprietary investor portal technology that could evolve into a standalone product, adding a compelling fintech dimension to its operations.
The Opportunity
Our client is seeking a seasoned Chief Financial Officer (Director of Finance & Fund Operations) to serve as the firm’s first dedicated finance leader. This is a ground-floor executive opportunity for a finance professional with fund experience who is ready to own the financial architecture of a scaling investment firm. Reporting directly to the Managing Partner, the CFO will establish processes, lead investor reporting, ensure regulatory compliance, and serve as a strategic financial partner to leadership.
This role will evolve — there is a clear path to building a finance team (including analyst hires) as AUM grows, making this both an impactful individual contributor role and a future leadership platform.
Key Responsibilities
Fund Financial Management
• Oversee all financial operations for the VC fund and associated business interests
• Manage GP/LP fund structure, capital calls, distributions, and waterfall calculations
• Conduct balance sheet reviews and establish scalable financial processes from the ground up
• Oversee fund accounting, NAV reporting, and financial statement preparation
Investor Relations & Reporting
• Produce and distribute quarterly investor letters and portfolio performance reports
• Serve as the primary financial liaison for LP investors, including international investors
• Oversee the launch and ongoing management of the firm’s proprietary investor portal
• Maintain transparency and accuracy in investor communications and capital account statements
Regulatory Compliance & Legal Coordination
• Ensure SEC Regulation D compliance across all fund offerings and investor activities
• Coordinate with external tax accountants, legal counsel, and third-party advisors
• Manage compliance requirements for international fund structures (Cayman Islands / BVI)
• Maintain required securities filings and regulatory documentation
Strategic Financial Leadership
• Partner with the Managing Partner on firm strategy, capital allocation, and financial planning
• Build financial infrastructure to support multiple fund structures and AUM growth to $500M+
• Assist in the development of equity compensation and stock option plans
• Support future team growth by defining analyst roles and finance department structure
Qualifications
Required
• 5+ years of finance experience within a PE, VC, or hedge fund environment
• Demonstrated experience with SEC Regulation D securities compliance
• Strong background in LP/GP fund structures, capital accounts, and investor reporting
• Experience building or establishing financial processes in a growing or startup environment
• Agile, entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to operate independently and decisively
• Strong communication skills for investor-facing and executive-level reporting
Preferred / Nice to Have
• CPA certification (commands salary premium within posted range)
• Experience with international fund structures, particularly Cayman Islands or BVI entities
• Background in tech or AI-adjacent industries or investment verticals
• Familiarity with fund administration platforms (e.g., Juniper Square, Allvue, Carta)
• Agricultural investment or alternative asset class experience
Compensation & Benefits
Bonus: Performance bonus (structure to be defined by Managing Partner)
Equity: Stock options possible — this hire will help design the plan
Health Insurance: Company-sponsored
401(k): 100% employer match up to 3.5% of salary
PTO: Flexible PTO policy within reason
Work Environment & Culture
• Entrepreneurial, high-performance culture — results-oriented with an ownership mentality
• On-site, in-office position in Oklahoma City, OK
• Occasional after-hours availability expected during active deal periods or investor events
• International exposure — firm partners with investors and operators across the Middle East and beyond
• Small, tight-knit team of 8 where your impact is immediately visible and valued
