FPGA Engineer
Waukesha, WI
On-Site Role (5 days/week)
Compensation: $75/hour

ABOUT THE ROLE

Join GE HealthCare’s Magnetic Resonance (MR) engineering organization as an FPGA Engineer, where you will play a critical role in designing, developing, and validating FPGA-based systems that enable next-generation MR system capabilities. As part of a collaborative and innovative engineering team, you will contribute to advanced technology initiatives through embedded hardware development. This position offers the opportunity to work hands-on with cutting-edge technology, support system integration, and ensure compliance with quality and regulatory standards in a fast-paced R&D environment.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Develop and implement FPGA designs using VHDL for embedded systems applications.
  • Perform simulation, debugging, and validation of FPGA designs both in code and on physical hardware.
  • Execute functional testing and verification to ensure designs meet performance and system requirements.
  • Troubleshoot FPGA and circuit-level issues using lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and multimeters.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to support system integration and product development.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications and test procedures.
  • Support prototype development, including modeling, testing, and iterative design improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with GE HealthCare’s Quality Management System (QMS) and regulatory standards.
  • Drive technical tasks and contribute to program execution within a team-oriented environment.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in FPGA development, including VHDL-based design, simulation, verification, hardware testing, and debugging.
  • Strong understanding of digital hardware design principles.
  • Experience troubleshooting FPGA and circuit board-level issues.
  • Hands-on experience with lab equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, multimeters).
  • Ability to work onsite in Waukesha, WI (5 days/week).
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, fast-paced R&D environment.
  • Experience driving technical tasks and contributing to program execution.
  • Preferred: 8–10+ years of FPGA development experience.
  • Preferred: Experience with Intel/Altera tools (Quartus) and simulation tools such as QuestaSim.
  • Preferred: Background in medical device, industrial electronics, power systems, or automotive industries.
