Job Description:
Inpatient Medical Coder (Remote – Contract)
We are partnering with a leading regional health system to bring on Inpatient Medical Coders for a fully remote contract opportunity supporting a high-acuity, multi-specialty environment.
Position Overview
- Role: Inpatient Medical Coder
- Location: 100% Remote
- Schedule: Full-time, aligned to PST business hours (8am–5pm)
- Contract Length: 4 months (with potential for extension)
- Start Date: ASAP
What You’ll Be Doing
- Perform inpatient coding across a variety of specialties including:
- Cardiology
- Neurology
- Surgical cases
- Transplants
- NICU and more
- Ensure accurate and timely coding in accordance with organizational and regulatory standards
- Meet productivity and quality benchmarks in a fast-paced environment
Qualifications
- CCS required (RHIT or RHIA also considered)
- 3+ years of inpatient coding experience
- Experience in an academic medical center or trauma setting preferred
- Strong background in multi-specialty inpatient coding
Technical Requirements
- Epic (EHR) experience
- 3M encoder experience
Performance Expectations
- Productivity: ~2.4 charts per hour
- Accuracy: 95%+
