ABOUT THE ROLE
Our client is seeking a dedicated Scrum Master for a 12-month contract-to-hire position based onsite in downtown Indianapolis, IN. As a Scrum Master, you will serve as a mentor and facilitator for development teams, championing agile principles and fostering a culture of collaboration, transparency, psychological safety, and continuous improvement. You will play a pivotal role in nurturing an agile culture, driving teams toward excellence, and ensuring our products are delivered efficiently and with maximum value to our customers. This role requires a full-time, onsite presence with a five-day in-office work schedule and core hours typically between 7:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., aligned with Agile team needs.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Facilitate all scrum ceremonies, including daily standups, sprint planning, sprint reviews, and retrospectives, ensuring they occur in cadence with the Software Development Life Cycle.
- Mentor and coach development teams on scrum practices and agile principles to foster an agile mindset, psychological security, and continuous improvement.
- Promote effective communication, collaboration, and psychological safety within teams to drive alignment, trust, and high performance.
- Facilitate improvements in how information is exchanged and contribute feedback at the individual, team, and organizational levels, offering guidance, training, and coaching on scrum practices.
- Hold teams accountable to development policies, procedures, processes, and metrics that reflect best practices and business objectives.
- Identify, manage, and help remove impediments and project risks, proactively escalating to stakeholders as needed and raising awareness of dependencies.
- Cultivate a culture of trust, respect, and open communication within teams, promoting collaboration and innovation essential for high performance and problem solving.
- Support and collaborate with Product Owners in managing the product backlog to ensure teams are working on the most valuable work items.
- Promote continuous improvement by encouraging teams to reflect on their processes and performance, identifying areas for better ways of working and delivering value to customers.
- Develop and optimize processes and workflows to enhance team performance, control costs, and ensure quality deliverables.
- Utilize key performance indicators (KPIs) and other metrics to track progress, identify areas for improvement, and report to management.
- Provide feedback and guidance to team members and stakeholders on work item progress, quality, and team productivity.
- Collaborate with cross-functional team members, including Product Owners, Developers, and Quality Analysts, to achieve project goals and reporting requirements.
WHAT YOU BRING
- Scrum Master Certificate and/or a deep understanding of the Scrum framework and its application to software development projects.
- Experience in Agile project management and development methodologies.
- Ability to develop and implement best practices and resolve conflict.
- Ability to track team member progress to ensure projects stay on track.
- Ability to create and report metrics to department and division management.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Exceptional troubleshooting skills and ability to quickly assess complex problems.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Project, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
- This role requires a five-day in-office work schedule in downtown Indianapolis, with core hours typically between 7:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., aligned with Agile team collaboration needs.
- Nice to Have:
- BS/BA degree in a technical, business, or related field (preferred, but not required).
- Minimum 5 years of expertise in software development (preferred).
- Minimum 2 years as a product/project manager or equivalent (preferred).
- Azure DevOps experience (preferred).
- Experience working with multiple tech stacks or types of applications (e.g., legacy, mobile, cloud, web) (preferred).
