Physician Coding Educator

Remote

Compensation: $35 DOE


ABOUT THE ROLE

Our client is seeking a Physician Coding Educator with deep Professional Fee expertise to lead physician and coding staff education, ensure coding accuracy, and drive documentation improvement initiatives. In this role, you will deliver targeted training sessions, serve as a subject matter expert on documentation standards and audit findings, and perform focused coding audits and chart reviews. You will analyze coding trends, support audit readiness, and collaborate with leadership to address compliance and quality gaps. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in physician, ASC, surgical, and outpatient coding environments, strong communication skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively with clinical and revenue cycle teams.


WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Deliver targeted education to physicians and coding staff on Professional Fee coding in ASC, surgical, and outpatient settings
  • Facilitate one-on-one and group training sessions, clearly explaining complex coding and documentation concepts to clinical audiences
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for provider questions regarding documentation standards, audit findings, and coding requirements
  • Perform focused coding audits and in-depth chart reviews to assess coding accuracy and identify documentation improvement opportunities
  • Analyze coding trends, variances, and risk areas; collaborate with leadership to develop education plans addressing identified gaps
  • Support audit readiness and ongoing coding quality initiatives
  • Promote consistent, compliant documentation practices across providers and coding teams
  • Implement education strategies to reduce variation and strengthen documentation quality
  • Partner with physician coding leadership to ensure education aligns with compliance standards and organizational expectations

WHAT YOU BRING

  • CPC (AAPC), CCS, or CCS-P (AHIMA) certification required
  • Proven experience in Professional Fee coding, including physician, ASC, surgical, and outpatient environments
  • Demonstrated success delivering physician-facing education and influencing documentation improvement
  • Hands-on experience conducting chart reviews and coding accuracy audits
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; able to engage confidently with clinicians and leadership
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with coding, CDI, and revenue cycle stakeholders
