Job Description:
Honda – Controls Engineer
Location: Marysville, OH
Timeline: Nov 2025 – Nov 2026
Type: Contract (with possibility of extension)
Pay: Negotiable, based on experience
Key Requirements
- Highly desirable: Omron PLC experience and prior automotive industry experience
- Nice to have: Yaskawa Robot knowledge
- Schedule:Weekend shifts: Fri, Sat, Sun (12 hrs each) + Mon (4 hrs)
- Must be open to potential night shifts
- Ability to meet deadlines safely and maintain equipment integrity
- Professional interaction with customers under high-pressure situations
Responsibilities
- Assist with installation of controls-related components into existing machinery
- Primarily during weekends (Fri–Mon) and occasional full-week shutdowns
- Develop offline programming and HMIs using Omron PLC/HMI software remotely
- Update schematics in AutoCAD for future installations
- Design and develop controls software packages (PLC & HMI)
- Review customer specifications to ensure compliance
- Commission and start up equipment per approved specifications
- Program robotic and/or controls equipment
- Perform preventative maintenance to minimize downtime
- Check design details for functionality
- Provide timely service documentation
- Offer technical support and training to end-users
- Maintain industry-leading standards for products and services
- Commit to safe work practices at all times
Technical Skills
- Strong understanding of:
- Electrical circuits & panel design
- Pneumatic & hydraulic systems
- PLCs, HMIs, robot programming
- VFDs, servo applications, and device communication networks (DNET, ENET, Profibus)
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Ability to work onsite at customer locations as required
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
