Job Description:

Honda – Controls Engineer

Location: Marysville, OH

Timeline: Nov 2025 – Nov 2026

Type: Contract (with possibility of extension)

Pay: Negotiable, based on experience


Key Requirements

  • Highly desirable: Omron PLC experience and prior automotive industry experience
  • Nice to have: Yaskawa Robot knowledge
    • Schedule:Weekend shifts: Fri, Sat, Sun (12 hrs each) + Mon (4 hrs)
    • Must be open to potential night shifts
  • Ability to meet deadlines safely and maintain equipment integrity
  • Professional interaction with customers under high-pressure situations


Responsibilities

  • Assist with installation of controls-related components into existing machinery
    • Primarily during weekends (Fri–Mon) and occasional full-week shutdowns
  • Develop offline programming and HMIs using Omron PLC/HMI software remotely
  • Update schematics in AutoCAD for future installations
  • Design and develop controls software packages (PLC & HMI)
  • Review customer specifications to ensure compliance
  • Commission and start up equipment per approved specifications
  • Program robotic and/or controls equipment
  • Perform preventative maintenance to minimize downtime
  • Check design details for functionality
  • Provide timely service documentation
  • Offer technical support and training to end-users
  • Maintain industry-leading standards for products and services
  • Commit to safe work practices at all times


Technical Skills

  • Strong understanding of:
    • Electrical circuits & panel design
    • Pneumatic & hydraulic systems
    • PLCs, HMIs, robot programming
    • VFDs, servo applications, and device communication networks (DNET, ENET, Profibus)
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work onsite at customer locations as required
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
