ABOUT THE ROLE

Our client is seeking a Lead Customer Service Profee Coder/Auditor for a remote, full-time contract-to-hire position, working Mountain Standard Time hours. As a key contributor to the enterprise professional fee coding team, you will focus on auditing and ensuring the accuracy of coding, with a particular emphasis on CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10, and adherence to NCCI and Medicare guidelines. This role is not production coding; instead, you will spend most of your time in quality assurance and educational spaces, supporting and supplementing coders, and collaborating closely with clinicians. You will serve as the bridge between coders and clinicians, providing guidance on documentation requirements for billing and helping clinicians understand what is needed for accurate coding. Leadership, reliability, and a team-oriented approach are essential, as productivity is measured through quality, provider meetings, and effective communication.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Audit and review coding performed by team members for accuracy, compliance, and adherence to CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10, Medicare, NCCI, and insurance guidelines
  • Bridge communication between coders and clinicians to ensure proper documentation and support billing requirements
  • Educate clinicians on documentation standards and coding guidelines, addressing their need for knowledge and clarity
  • Provide subject matter expertise in cardiothoracic and cardiovascular (CV/CT) coding
  • Support and supplement coders’ work through quality assurance, coder education, and feedback
  • Conduct coder audits, scrubbing, and documentation reviews, pulling codes from clinical notes as needed
  • Track productivity through quality metrics, provider meetings, and effective communication
  • Work collaboratively in a remote environment, aligned with Mountain Standard Time hours
  • Maintain certification and pass required assessments at 90% or higher
  • Demonstrate meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to continuous improvement

WHAT YOU BRING

  • 5+ years of experience in professional fee (Profee) coding, with a strong background in audit and coder education
  • Certification: AAPC preferred, AHIMA acceptable
  • Extensive experience in cardiothoracic and cardiovascular coding (CV/CT)
  • Expertise in ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS, Medicare, NCCI, and insurance guidelines
  • Demonstrated ability to bridge communication gaps between clinicians and coders
  • Leadership experience in coding teams, with a focus on quality assurance and education
  • Reliable, agile, and a strong team player
  • Ability to pass assessments with a score of 90% or higher
  • Comfortable working Mountain Standard Time hours in a fully remote setting
  • Meticulous attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving

WHAT'S IN IT FOR YOU

  • Fully remote work environment
  • Opportunity to lead and shape quality assurance and education within a high-performing coding team
  • Collaborative culture focused on continuous improvement and professional development
  • Contract-to-hire pathway with potential for long-term growth
  • Work-life balance with Mountain Standard Time hours
