Software Development Engineer in Test/Quality Automation Engineer
Contract – Full Time
100% Remote
About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) / Quality Engineer who will play a key role in ensuring the quality, performance, and reliability of our data-driven software systems. The ideal candidate has a strong background in automation frameworks, JavaScript/TypeScript, and Playwright, combined with an ability to thrive in high-pressure, fast-paced environments. This role blends test automation, data validation, and quality assurance to deliver robust and scalable solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain automated test frameworks and end-to-end test scripts using JavaScript, TypeScript, and Playwright.
- Implement comprehensive test strategies for both frontend and backend components, ensuring functional and data integrity.
- Validate data pipelines, ETL processes, and data transformations, ensuring accuracy and completeness across environments.
- Collaborate with developers, DevOps, and data engineers to integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions).
- Conduct root cause analysis and proactively identify issues and risks early in the development cycle.
- Support data quality validation during migrations and integrations involving SQL Server, Snowflake, or Azure Data Services.
- Partner with Agile teams to define acceptance criteria, ensure test coverage, and maintain traceability across user stories.
- Document test plans, test cases, and test results in alignment with quality and compliance standards.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in software testing, automation, or quality engineering.
- Strong proficiency in JavaScript and TypeScript, with hands-on experience using Playwright, Cypress, or similar tools.
- Proven experience designing and implementing automation frameworks for UI and API testing.
- Solid understanding of SQL and experience with data validation, ETL testing, or data migration quality assurance.
- Familiarity with Azure Cloud and Snowflake for validating data flows and pipelines.
- Working knowledge of DevOps practices, particularly CI/CD automation using GitHub Actions.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills; able to articulate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience working in high-pressure, fast-paced project environments, managing multiple priorities simultaneously.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with Python or other scripting languages for test automation and data processing.
- Exposure to Azure Data Factory (ADF), Logic Apps, or Data Lake (ADLS Gen2) for test validation.
- Knowledge of unit testing, integration testing, and performance testing methodologies.
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development environments.
