Job Title: Senior / Lead React Native Developer

Location: Remote (U.S.-based, no time zone restrictions)

Employment Type: Full-Time / long term contract


We are seeking a Senior / Lead React Native Developer to help lead the development of Optum’s flagship mobile platform—designed to unify the healthcare experience for millions of users in one intelligent, scalable app.


This role is focused on true mobile engineering at scale. The ideal candidate brings deep experience with large-scale React Native applications and hands-on knowledge of the native iOS and Android layers. You’ll play a critical role in building a modular, AI-powered Companion experience shared across multiple apps—starting with OptumRx and the new flagship mobile app.


We're not looking for a web developer learning mobile—we're looking for a seasoned mobile expert who understands the full lifecycle of a production-grade mobile app, from writing clean, reusable JavaScript to managing CI/CD pipelines and native build processes.


RESPONSIBILITIES

·        Lead development on a massive scale React Native application consolidating services like prescriptions, medical records, appointments, financials, and more.

·        Architect and build a reusable AI Companion framework to support conversational experiences across multiple mobile apps and business units.

·        Manage and maintain CI/CD pipelines for native apps (Bitrise, GitHub Actions) and own the build/release process for both iOS and Android.

·        Ensure consistent, performant delivery of two native apps (flagship Optum and OptumRx) that share a JavaScript codebase but compile into native binaries.

·        Collaborate with platform and backend teams to integrate secure, scalable APIs for goal-oriented, multi-intent user experiences.

·        Mentor engineers and shape team standards around architecture, testing, and maintainability.

·        Drive long-term quality and scalability—not just short-term feature delivery.

QUALIFICATIONS

·        15+ years of professional mobile development experience, with at least 10 years focused on React Native.

·        Proven track record of shipping and scaling large mobile apps with complex architectures and high user traffic.

·        Hands-on experience working with native iOS/Android codebases alongside React Native, especially for build, configuration, and release processes.

·        Experience setting up and managing CI/CD pipelines for mobile apps, including tools like Bitrise, Fastlane, and GitHub Actions.

·        Comfortable working across large codebases, multiple teams, and highly regulated environments.
