ABOUT THE ROLE

Brooksource is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join the Corporate Solutions Team of one of the largest Quick Service Restaurant organizations in the United States. This contract, hybrid role based in Louisville, KY, is ideal for an experienced engineer who enjoys solving business problems, working across both modern and legacy applications, and mentoring other developers. You will play a key role in supporting and enhancing the company’s internal back-office applications and services, which are critical to day-to-day business operations. The team manages a variety of enterprise systems, including identity and access management solutions, integrations, and corporate applications. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to application modernization efforts, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and support the ongoing evolution of enterprise technology within a large-scale environment.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Design, develop, enhance, and support backend applications using Java and Spring Boot
• Maintain and improve internal corporate applications and integrations
• Troubleshoot production issues and participate in incident resolution as needed
• Support identity and access management workflows and enterprise system integrations
• Review application logs and perform basic troubleshooting in Linux environments
• Write efficient SQL queries and support database-driven applications
• Collaborate with architects, developers, business stakeholders, and third-party vendors
• Contribute to application modernization efforts while supporting existing systems
• Mentor junior engineers and promote engineering best practices
• Participate in a shared on-call rotation for back-office applications

WHAT YOU BRING

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent professional experience
• 6+ years of backend software development experience
• Strong experience with Java and Spring Boot
• Experience developing and supporting enterprise applications
• Strong SQL and relational database experience
• Experience troubleshooting applications in production environments
• Working knowledge of Linux, including reviewing logs and executing basic command-line functions
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Ability to work effectively across both legacy and modern technology environments
• Experience mentoring or supporting junior engineers
• Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), particularly Google Compute Engine (GCE) (preferred)
• Experience with AWS or other cloud platforms (preferred)
• Experience with Identity and Access Management (IAM) solutions (preferred)
• Experience integrating with Active Directory or other directory services (preferred)
• Experience with Python scripting or automation (preferred)
• Experience building or supporting APIs and enterprise integrations (preferred)
• Experience working within large enterprise environments (preferred)
