Job Description:

Microsoft Fabric Platform Engineer

Term: 6-12 Month Contract (Potential for Extensions or Conversion)

Location: Remote, EST hours strongly preferred

Team: Enterprise Microsoft Fabric Platform Team (4–5 Engineers, 1 QA)

Compensation: $40 - $50 per hour

ABOUT THE ROLE

Our global professional services client is seeking a Microsoft Fabric Platform Engineer to join its enterprise-wide Fabric platform team.

This team develops, enhances, and supports the organization's Microsoft Fabric platform while driving automation, platform engineering, and AI-assisted development initiatives. The environment is collaborative, highly autonomous, and focused on delivering measurable business value through modern engineering practices.

This is not a traditional ticket-driven development role. Engineers on this team are empowered to identify opportunities, propose solutions, and lead initiatives from research and design through implementation and delivery. Success in this role requires curiosity, ownership, and a willingness to learn new technologies while helping shape the future of the platform.

If you enjoy solving complex problems, working across multiple technologies, and building solutions that improve how teams operate, this role offers significant opportunity for impact and growth.

TECHNOLOGY ENVIRONMENT

·      Microsoft Fabric

·      Azure

·      Power BI Administration

·      Python

·      .NET/C#

·      GitHub

·      Automation & Platform Engineering

·      AI Coding Tools (Copilot, Cursor, Claude, ChatGPT, etc.)

RESPONSIBILITIES

·      Lead implementation initiatives from research and solution design through development and deployment

·      Build automation, tooling, and user-facing solutions that simplify platform operations and improve user experience

·      Configure, administer, and enhance the Microsoft Fabric platform across Fabric, Azure, and Power BI environments

·      Develop solutions within Microsoft Fabric using Python notebooks and platform-native capabilities

·      Design and implement integrations between Fabric, GitHub, and other enterprise systems

·      Partner with stakeholders to understand requirements, shape technical solutions, and deliver business value

·      Contribute to platform governance, operational excellence, and continuous improvement initiatives

·      Leverage AI coding tools as part of the software development lifecycle and help advance AI-assisted engineering practices within the team

·      Share knowledge, document solutions, and contribute to ongoing learning and certification efforts

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

·      Hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric

·      Experience working within Azure and Power BI administration environments

·      Strong Python development experience

·      .NET/C# development experience

·      Experience delivering solutions through the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), from requirements and solution design through development, testing, deployment, and support, while leveraging AI-assisted development tools such as Copilot, Cursor, Claude, or ChatGPT.

·      Experience building automation, integrations, APIs, or platform tooling

·      Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to operate independently in ambiguous environments

·      Excellent communication skills and experience working directly with stakeholders

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

·      The ideal candidate is a self-starter who enjoys ownership, continuous learning, and solving problems that do not always come with a predefined solution.

·      They think beyond task completion, understand how systems fit together, and are comfortable proposing improvements that create measurable impact.

FIRST 90 DAYS

·      Learn the enterprise Microsoft Fabric environment and team processes

·      Take ownership of one or more implementation initiatives from discovery through delivery

·      Contribute to platform automation efforts, including GitHub-connected workflows and user-facing operational tooling

·      Build relationships with stakeholders and begin influencing platform direction and engineering practices

·      Share knowledge with the team and contribute to ongoing platform improvements
