Compensation: $48 - $52 per hour

ABOUT THE ROLE

Our global retail client is seeking a Commerce Services Engineer for a 6-month remote contract position, with potential for extension or conversion to full-time. In this role, you will join the team responsible for designing and implementing cloud-native RESTful APIs that support digital checkout experiences, native mobile applications, and both internal and external partner integrations for a robust e-commerce platform. You will play a key part in solving complex business problems by delivering simple, scalable, and maintainable solutions using continuous integration and continuous delivery practices. WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Participate in back-end development efforts supporting a robust e-commerce platform
• Design and implement scalable RESTful APIs using proven design principles and patterns
• Develop utility functions and cross-cutting modules
• Build and maintain services supporting e-commerce payment and commerce workflows
• Collaborate with finance, accounting, product, and other cross-functional teams as needed
• Work within an Agile/Scrum and test-driven development environment
• Develop unit and functional tests for code developed
• Participate in service/change management processes and follow established operational procedures
• Work independently while collaborating effectively with distributed teams

WHAT YOU BRING

• 4–6 years of software engineering experience, with 2+ years building back-end systems
• 1+ years of experience building scalable RESTful APIs
• Strong understanding of object-oriented programming principles, data structures, and algorithms
• Experience with Java, JEE technologies, Spring, and related frameworks
• Knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases
• Knowledge of asynchronous messaging and event-driven architectures
• Exposure to cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform
• Experience working with e-commerce payment services/payments processing (highly preferred)
• Experience with Adyen or similar payment service providers (strong plus)
• Experience with finance/accounting processes related to e-commerce payments (preferred)
• Experience with CI/CD and DevOps tools such as Jenkins, Git, Chef, etc. (plus)
• Experience with containerization/orchestration technologies (plus)
• Ability to work independently and take initiative
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a closely related field, or equivalent relevant experience
