Associate Medical Director, Global Medical Evidence Generation FA (Friedrich’s Ataxia)

About This Role 

As a key member of the Global Medical FA within the world-wide medical organization function, the Associate Medical Director, reporting to the Global Medical Lead, will be responsible for supporting the development of evidence generation, oversight of evidence generation activities and shapes the data generation globally. The individual must have deep knowledge and extensive experience with Real-world Data (RWD) and Observational Research (OR)/ Collaborative Research evidence generation to ensure communication and medical priorities are developed as well as key affiliate feedback is provided to study design and aligned with the Integrated Evidence Generation Plan (IEGP).  

What You’ll Do 

  • In collaboration with Global Medical FA team – support the development of global medical strategic imperatives and a communication framework in collaboration with FA scientific partnership                    
  • Lead/collaborate/support critical projects to aligned with IEGP, serving as needed, as the key Global Medical contact for important cross-functional partners (e.g. PDC, Clinical Development, Commercial, Market Access, Regional Medical) 
  • Co-lead/Lead data generation planning, implementing and delivering high quality, scientifically robust observational and/or Clinical trials design (i.e. target population, protocol development, sample sizing) for studies proposed 
  • Evaluate and assess strengths and weaknesses of external Real World Data sources for advancing the data strategy for FA 
  • To drive and execute our evidence generation plans and evidence gap assessment work 
  • Support Therapeutic Area Lead in cross functional efforts to ensure key communication priorities and data gaps are capture from global and affiliate                                                       
  • Collaborate with regional and/or affiliate medical to understand key insights that may be relevant to clinical trial and data generation efforts                       
  • Other job duties that may be assigned. May be modified at any time as business needs require.

You are a scientific or clinical professional with a passion for science and deep scientific knowledge. You have a marked curiosity about healthcare and business opportunities. You keep patients, payers and physicians top of mind in your daily work and collaborate to solve critical scientific and business challenges. 

 

Required Skills 

  • MD, PhD, or other advanced degree (PharmD, MPH etc) in the life sciences is required  
  • Experience with neurology, rare disease and clinical trials 
  • More than 5 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, CRO/consulting firms or academic institute with broad and deep knowledge of RWE activities with a proven successful track record of RWE scientific publications in peer-review journals 
  • Ability to effectively operate in a highly matrixed organization  
  • Strong interpersonal, influencing and project management skills  
  • Excellent communication (particularly both written and oral), leadership, and presentation skills 
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate with regional and/or affiliate medical to ensure regional activities are executed in alignment with global medical strategy and ensuring the insights and needs from them are known and properly addressed 
  • Relevant experience in Medical Affairs or research and development (and/or other pharma industry experience) 
  • Must have the ability to travel
