General Statement of Duties: 

The Radiologic Technologist Surgery takes images of various portions of the body by operating radiologic equipment according to developmental factors and age specifics under supervision and as directed by a Physician.

Only considering Rad Techs with Operating Room experience at this time. Required to have an Associate’s Degree in this field and MUST HAVE ARRT certification from the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency (IPLA)

Essential Duties:

  1. Operates radiology equipment, including but not limited to: OEC C-arm, O-arm, Siemens, AMX portable, mini OEC and mini ortho scan. Operates radiology equipment with knowledge of the following: total joint placement and replacement, ORIF and arthroscopic surgeries on all extremities, spine general, and physiatry. Intra-operative and post-operative portable imaging. Assists physicians with image guided injections, under physician guidance. Passes medications needed during exams. Utilizes digital subtraction and angiography.
  2. Prepares and positions patients and selects anatomic and technical parameters accurately.
  3. Prepares and administers contrast media and medications within the accepted scope of practice and applicable state and federal regulations.
  4. Observes patients during procedure. Monitors protocols and recommends updates or refinements as warranted.
  5. Performs specialized imaging procedures such as nonvascular interventional and therapeutic procedures.
  6. Assists with image guided biopsies and radiofrequency ablations of tumors. 
  7. Follows radiation safety procedures and guidelines. Ensures all activities comply with regulatory agency standards. 
  8. Applies operating room traffic patterns and aseptic technique. Applies sterile technique principles. Complies to surgical attire. 
  9. Assists with procedures and provide diagnostic aid by conducting organ or body scans on patients. Assists physicians with image guided injections.
  10. Assists surgeon in research projects. 

Requirements:

  • Associate’s degree required in Radiologic Technology
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (A.R.R.T.) certification required.
  • BLS certification required. 
  • 1-2 years of experience required.
