Performs quality diagnostic and screening mammographic studies utilizing a knowledge of anatomic positions. Ensures patient safety and comfort during procedures by explaining the process, positioning patients correctly, and adjusting equipment as needed. Reviews prior imaging to attain and/or improve tissue visualization as compared to prior studies. Complies with FDA MQSA Regulations. Assists with mammographs, ultrasound, and MR guided breast localizations and biopsies. May perform screening breast ultrasound procedures as required by local facility.
- Requires 0-3 years of relevant experience.
- Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) is required.
- Requires ability to maneuver equipment and improvise positions when the condition of the patient does not permit routine positioning.
- Requires active status as a Registered Technologist – Radiography, RT(R) through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). Requires certification in Mammography (M) through the ARRT within 12 months of hire. If performing breast ultrasound, must obtain credential through American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS): RDMS(BR); American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT): RT(S)(BS), or RT(R)(M)(BS); within 18 months of hire.
- Requires current license through Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH) as a Radiologic Technologist.
- Currently meets Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA) requirements, preferred.
- Requires ability to learn breast ultrasound procedures, if applicable.
