Overview:

Our healthcare client’s Financial Group is seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Financial Analyst/Accountant to support critical state and federal government reporting projects/initiatives. This role is not general ledger-focused but centers on project-based financial analysis and compliance reporting. You will be joining a growing department with evolving regulatory needs and contributing to high-stakes projects that directly impact reimbursements and compliance with federal/state mandates.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and analyze state and federal reports, ensuring 100% accuracy and timely submissions.
  • Manage government-mandated cost reports, including researching updates to regulations and assessing reimbursement implications.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., hospital finance coordinators) to gather necessary documentation and validate data accuracy.
  • Independently manage and execute short- and long-term projects (15–60 days in duration) related to government compliance.
  • Maintain and enhance current workbooks and reporting processes; analyze year-over-year data and identify discrepancies.
  • Apply strong Excel skills to manage large data sets (200–300+ rows); use formulas, VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, etc.
  • Conduct policy research to identify changes in federal/state requirements and apply those changes to existing reporting models.
  • Support at least four hospitals concurrently with their compliance reporting needs.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (required).
  • 5+ years of professional experience in financial analysis, accounting, or similar roles.
  • Experience with government reporting (state and/or federal), tax documents (1040 statements), and cost reporting.
  • Strong analytical mindset with an ability to work independently and pick up new systems and processes quickly.
  • Advanced Excel skills required (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, data mapping).
  • Exposure to SQL a plus but not required.
  • Healthcare industry experience preferred but not required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to coordinate effectively across departments.
  • Project management experience is a strong plus.
